A safeguarding workshop under the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Santo Niรฑo de Cebu Devotion Project, implemented through the Kabilin Partnership between Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) and ICOMOS Philippines.
Drawing from the context of the Santo Niรฑo de Cebu Devotion, the conversation will examine how intangible cultural heritage is transmitted within communities and sustained across generations. Participants will reflect on selected heritage elements, the people and practices that keep them alive, and the initiatives and support systems that contribute to their continued safeguarding.
The discussion forms part of a broader effort to strengthen collaboration, shared stewardship, and long-term safeguarding among participating communities, institutions, and stakeholders. Through dialogue, reflection, and collaborative planning, participants will help identify shared priorities and aspirations that can inform future safeguarding initiatives and the succeeding writeshop phase of the project. How can we use archival sources and historiography as a guide for safeguarding? What is the role of museums and research institutions? What is the role of community associations or organizations?
Guiding this exchange are our panel discussants:
