Spearheaded by the Barangay Sambag II SK, the visit served as a wonderful reminder that history is for everyone. At the 1730 Jesuit House Museum, we believe that our shared heritage should be inclusive, accessible, and appreciated by people from all walks of life. On this day, we celebrate the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, whose life of faith, service, and dedication to education continues to inspire generations. The 1730 Jesuit House Museum joins the universal Church in commemorating his enduring legacy and the profound influence of the Jesuits on the history, culture, and heritage of Cebu.

As one of the oldest surviving residential structures in the Philippines and a lasting testament to centuries of Cebuano and Jesuit history, the house continues to serve as a bridge between past and present. Its preservation reminds us of the importance of safeguarding our shared cultural heritage and ensuring that the stories of those who came before us continue to inspire future generations.

In the spirit of St. Ignatius, may we continue to find God in all things and remain committed to preserving, sharing, and celebrating our collective memory.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.

Welcoming the Delegation of Professor Emeritus Paul D. Hutchcroft

On July 18, 2026, the 1730 Jesuit House Museum had the distinct honor of welcoming the delegation of Professor Emeritus Paul D. Hutchcroft of the Australian National University, together with distinguished guests from the University of the Philippines Cebu, as part of their heritage tour of Cebu.

The delegation was warmly received by our owner, Mr. Jaime "Jimmy" Sy, who shared the remarkable story of how the historic Jesuit House was rediscovered and preserved, ensuring that one of the Philippines' oldest surviving residential structures continues to inspire future generations.

Their visit was further enriched through a guided tour by Mr. Christian Bonpua, one of the museum's former guides and a CHAC Commissioner, who led the guests through the rich history, architecture, and enduring legacy of the 1730 Jesuit House.

We are deeply grateful for your visit and for your shared commitment to preserving, studying, and promoting Southeast Asia's rich cultural and historical heritage. We hope to welcome you back to the Jesuit House Museum in the future!
