This breathtaking antique Kerman carpet portrays the legendary Battle of Shahriar, the Achaemenid king, locked in combat with the Winged Lion. Rich in symbolism, the scene conveys the eternal duality of good and evil, order and chaos. The confrontation unfolds beneath an ornate arch supported by columns adorned with sphinx heads, while the surrounding border features lions and floral motifs, reinforcing themes of power, vitality, and protection.
