“Dancing Around the Entrance to the Cellar” was first shown in 2010 in our gallery.
These three-dimensional waves of string, nails, and drawn lines interlace notions of the collective, the performative, and the ephemeral within a single conceptual framework.
The Japanese-American artist has been based in New York since the 1960s, where she collaborated for many years on the production of Sol LeWitt’s wooden structures. Her practice combines Japanese cultural references with Minimalism and a high level of technical skill.
Today, alongside this string construction, the exhibition presents a selection of works on paper, wood, other string constructions, and photographs—some inspired by her performances—offering a comprehensive overview of Kazuko Miyamoto’s artistic practice.
We invite you to visit us and discover the exhibition and the other works!
