Justin Adian (b. 1976 Fort Worth, TX) lives and works in New York.
His shaped paintings hold painting and sculpture together: canvas stretched over foam, oil enamel, crisp edges, saturated color. Forms combine and touch, and the titles, almost always tied to a situation or a character, remain deliberately oblique. The abstraction runs through a pop mood and a Texan imaginary, with something of punk. The work proceeds in series, each piece answering the one before, without settling into a fixed category.
Among his solo exhibitions: Almine Rech (Paris, Brussels, Shanghai), Skarstedt (New York, London), Half Gallery in New York and Lowell Ryan Projects in Los Angeles. Among his group exhibitions: Gagosian in London, Luxembourg & Dayan in New York and, in 2025, Not Flat at Almine Rech in Shanghai. His work is in the collection of the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
