Here’s the second painting I made in Zion. Yesterday was a three session day. I may come back to touch this one up, but I’m not sure how much of a difference it would make. Perhaps I could spend a little bit more time designing the shape of the shadow and light. That part was moving fast. What a great place to paint, though!

Here’s a painting of some old gnarly aspens. I was really interested in the dark and textured bark with the yellow leaves fluttering behind. I’m not sure if the tree is alive or dead, at first I thought it may have been burned, but it looks like you could have been some other type of deformities.

Going crazy trying to paint these aspens, in Utah at the Sundance Fall Painting Invitational . It’s my first time painting in this part of the States. Very fun group of people, and some insane colors!

Grateful the studio sale is now completely done. All the pieces are off to new homes in record time! Including this one. I’ll post the close-ups of this one, as I find that I almost never get a chance or decide to post just the image itself. But over the years, I’ve had to learn to take good photos of my work, so I might as well share them, along with some close-ups.

One of the things that came up in our recent workshop and again yesterday on the Patreon group critique (this is a common question) is whether or not I exaggerate and push the colors I see.

My short answer is that there are different ways to look at the world, and depending on what you look for that’s what you’ll find. Different people can paint very different paintings and still paint exactly what they are seeing.

But then the even shallower answer is I try to get the big shapes of color right, and I find I could be a lot more artistic and smaller accents.

I thought this painting was a really good example of that

Now that the studio sale is over, I’m thinking towards what I’ll be up to next year. I’m sure I’ll organize a couple of workshops. If you would like to put in a recommendation or a request, I made a little form to do that, and if I get enough answers maybe I’ll find a new city or country to organize a workshop in next year! Some detail shots from one of the pieces from this summer. This was started as a plein air piece, but I reworked the ground when I got back to my studio. Maybe I should have positioned the light a little differently, I think the weave of the canvas is a little too dramatic. But oh well. Photographing your work is such a hassle.

Yesterday the first day of the studio sale was a big success! Over 80% of the paintings are now getting ready to get shipped off to new homes. This is one that has not sold.

Some paintings from July and August which were never shared, because it’s hard to take a good photo at sunset. Most of these paintings are a few minutes from my grandparents house in Poland. It was a beautiful summer.

There are two paintings which are put aside for myself to keep from Poland, and one from Chamonix. These pieces are not the most impressive ones I’ve done, but they’re special memories.

This is the last chance if anyone wants to sign up for the collectors list to get the early access to the sale tomorrow. Passwords get sent out at noon Eastern time! In the meantime, you can zoom in on the hires images or flip through and read the catalog💁‍♂️

Here’s my one of my top three paintings from the past few months. It will be available in a studio sale on my website this weekend only! There are 78 paintings available, and even a bronze sculpture!

Last year over 80% of work sold out in the first hour. This year I have hopefully a more selective level of quality, but you never know.

The best chance to be first in line is by joining the collectors list for the early access. If you join now you’ll also get a link to the digital catalog, price list, hires images of all the pieces, along with a link to the YouTube preview (even though that’s been public and posted on my channel).

I can almost call these my favorite door paintings of the trip. But I forgot and by now I am away from my computer, about to start the first day of class on my NYC landscape workshop this weekend. So cityscapes it is.

I thought it was sorta funny to have a painting of a door step. Maybe next year I’ll find a really cool door k**b.

I’ve spent a ton of time preparing for the studio sale, but by now it’s happening THIS SATURDAY!!!!!! September 19th. 12pm ET. Everything’s good to go, now I just wait.

Last year I think about 80% of all the paintings available sold in the first hour. This year I’ve been much more selective about what paintings I include and I think that there is a higher standard, so fingers crossed that percent will be a little bit higher 😬.
