🍷🧀 All aboard for an evening of Cheese & Wine! 🧀🍷

Join us on Saturday 13 June 2026 for a relaxed evening train from Wallingford, departing from beneath our beautiful Victorian canopy.

We’ll be making two return trips along the line, with a delicious selection of local cheeses and cheese products in association with Wallingford Local Producers Market, paired with wines from Pierre Le Vin as part of a guided wine tasting.

Your ticket includes the cheese and wine tasting, all for £32 per person. Our on-train bar will also be open, with beer, wine and soft drinks available.

🕖 Arrive from 7.00pm for a drink before departure
🚂 Train departs at 7.30pm
🏁 Returns to Wallingford at around 9.30pm

It’s the perfect summer evening treat — ideal for couples, friends, or anyone who enjoys good food, good wine and a heritage railway setting.

Due to the hot weather over the last few days and subsequent effects upon our infrastructure, we have taken the decision not to run trains into Cholsey today. The 1100 and 1230 departures from Wallingford will definitely be running but only over approximately half the length of the line. We will keep the 1400 and 1530 departures under review.

Bank Holiday Train Rides at the Cholsey & Wallingford Railway ☀️

Looking for something relaxed to do this Bank Holiday? Come and enjoy a ride along our lovely heritage railway between Cholsey and Wallingford.

Your ticket is valid all day, so you can make a proper day of it — take a trip on the train, enjoy a walk by the Thames, explore Wallingford, visit the castle gardens, or simply sit back and enjoy the countryside.

Members of Burnham Steam and Historic Machinery Club visited Cholsey and Wallingford Railway this weekend where they had short talks about the history of the line and the work of the volunteers before a train trip to Cholsey. Upon their return tea and cake was served. If this sounds like something your group might enjoy then do please get in touch.

Let the train take the strain to Wallingford Vehicle Rally today! 🚗🚌🏍️

Wallingford is expected to be busy, with limited parking in town, so why not leave the car behind and enjoy a ride on the railway instead? Adult all day fares are £5, children £1

We’ll be running frequent trains throughout the day, so you can come and go at your own pace.

No need to book in advance — just walk up, buy your ticket and travel.

For the best start to the day, board the 09:30 departure from Cholsey and arrive in time to watch the vehicle parade pass right in front of Wallingford Station.

All aboard for a brilliant day out!

The reclamation team were out again today, this time to recover more genuine GWR spear fencing which had to be removed as part of the Oxford Station project that is currently underway. We are very grateful to Neil S and Phil M from Network Rail and James and Petru at Kier for identifying these panels and donating them to CWR. Once collected by CWR volunteers they were delivered to Grundon (Peter Kent) at Ewelme who have kindly offered to shot blast, repair and paint them for us. They will also fabricate some additional posts to support the fencing. These additional GWR panels will allow us to separate the running line from the yard area more distinctly and further improve the appearance of Wallingford Station. Many thanks to all involved.

Heading to the Wallingford Vehicle Rally on Sunday 10 May? Why not travel the heritage way and avoid the hassle of parking?

Join our Bubblecar service from Cholsey to Wallingford and enjoy a relaxed ride into town.

For the best view of the rally passing the station, book onto our 09:30 departure from Cholsey, which arrives at Wallingford in time to see the vehicles pass right in front of the station.

Return on any train later in the day.

Due to a cancellation, we now have a small number of places left on our Fish & Chips Train! 🍟

All aboard for a proper evening treat: fish and chips served on board, heritage carriages, and a relaxed trip along the line.

These seats are likely to go quickly, so it’s a real last chance to book.
