Join us this Father's Day Sunday 21st June to see the historic Madder Valley Railway in operation from 11am until 4pm. Created by John Ahern in the 1940s, his creation pioneered the railway modelling hobby and still provides inspiration today. It operates on only a select few days a year to help preserve it for future generations to enjoy, so don't miss this weekend's running! There is no additional fee for this event and no need to pre-book, normal museum entry fees apply.
If you'd like to purchase museum entry as a gift for a loved one, you can do so here: https://tinyurl.com/4dm2jbsw

Tomorrow Saturday 13th June we'll have a family friendly information and activity stand exploring the plants and herbs rural communities used 100 years ago for medicine and more, from the herbs kept in every cottage garden to the wild plants gathered from fields and woodlands. There will be remedies prepared to guess at, plants to look at and folklore to hear about! Open from 11am until 4pm and there is no additional charge for this event, normal museum entry fees apply and trains will be running as usual.

This week is Volunteers' Week where we recognise, celebrate and thank volunteers throughout the UK. The United Nations have also declared 2026 the International Volunteer Year - recognising volunteerism as a key driver of sustainable development. Simply put, Pendon Museum wouldn't exist without the hard work and dedication of our volunteer staff - they are the heart, soul and backbone of the Museum and we owe so much to them all, past, present and future! Thank you Pendon Museum Volunteers 🙏

Tomorrow: We are running half-hour scenic model making sessions for children aged 6-14 from 11am with the last session at 3.30pm. These are FREE and included with the price of admission. The sessions are run by expert modellers who are part of the Pendon team. Each participant will work on their own small diorama to take home. Sessions are available on a first-come, first-served basis while space is available - please ask at reception and you will be allocated a timed ticket on arrival. Please note that each child must be accompanied by an adult. We'll also have real objects from the 1920s and 1930s to handle that help tell the story of everyday rural village life, represented in miniature form in our huge Vale scene.
