Did you know today marks the anniversary of the Battle of Hastings which took place on 14 October 1066?
King Harold was killed during the battle, famously depicted on the Bayeux Tapestry as taking an arrow to the eye, but is that what really happened?

Come and see our full scale printed reproduction of the battle and immerse yourself in 70m of historical drama and the story of England’s most famous year in history from 10-19 November at STEAM, as part of Bayeux Around Britain, a British Museum partnership, supported by WorldQuant.

We have two sessions available - come along for either our 9.45am -10.45am session or 11.15am-12pm session.⁠

Join us for songs, craft, play activities and a themed story inspired this month by building the engine

🚂Places must be booked in advance as we will have a maximum 10 children per session.⁠
🚂Children are welcomed between the ages of 2 – 5 years.⁠
🚂No more than 2 adults to accompany each child attending.⁠
🚂All sessions are £5 per child.⁠

We are excited to announce that here at STEAM we are taking part in Bayeux Around Britain, a nationwide programme of exhibitions, events and displays designed to share the historic loan of the Bayeux Tapestry from the French government with everyone around the UK!

Join us at STEAM for this unique opportunity to see a full scale printed reproduction of the Bayeux Tapestry which will be on display along with an information video and other material to allow visitors to get up close with this historic tapestry (that’s really an embroidery!).

Immerse yourself in 70m of historical drama and the story of England’s most famous year in history.

Timings:

10-19 November

Open weekdays from 15:00-17:00

Saturday 10:00-17:00

Sunday 11:00-16:00

Tickets:

£5 for adults, £4 seniors, students and children.

THE GREAT WESTERN BRICK SHOW STARTS TOMORROW!

The wait is almost over. Join us at the STEAM Museum this Saturday and Sunday for a full day of incredible LEGO creations.

With more than 100 displays, interactive activities, traders and the museum itself to explore, there is plenty for the whole family to see and do.

Doors open at 10am. The show closes at 5pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday.

We can’t wait to see you this weekend!
