Meet Ann Palmer

At the Heather Christie Gallery, in The Wooden Mouse, Rochester.

Ann paints sea and land scapes mainly in oils, taking her inspiration from standing on the beach or in the field, painting and sketching, and sometimes from photographs taken while out walking. Ann grew up in Wiltshire, and in Tavistock on the edge of Dartmoor, spending time on the family farm in Somerset and the beaches of Dorset and Cornwall where she already found the joy in watching the tide ebb and flow and the surf rolling in.

Ann’s inspiration comes from the landscape, focusing on the lie of the land, the state of the tide and weathers at various times.

Ann developed her reputation as a plein air painter working out of a beach hut in Whitstable, she now works primarily from her garden studio in Rochester where she has lived for 40 years.

Meet Julian Williamson, Artistic woodturner.
At the Heather Christie Gallery Rochester, at The Wooden Mouse.
Julian has a life long passion for working with wood, his career spanned spindle machinist, bench joinery, and bespoke carpentry.
After transitioning to a contracts manager in the construction industry 6 years ago he soon realised how much he missed working with his hands. His fascination and interest in wood turning led him to purchase a lathe, and with knowledge of wood machinery and the industry he quickly developed a unique style. Over the last two years he had transformed his wood turning into an art form, using wood stain iridescent paints and gold leafing to create one of a kind pieces.
