🌟 Meet Emma! 🌟

You might have noticed a new face around Sun Pier House! We’re so happy to have Emma join us for a year-long placement.

"Hi there! My name is Emma and I have just joined the Sun Pier House team as a part of a university placement at Kingston School of Art, where I study illustration and animation. I am so excited to help out behind the scenes and get involved on fun new projects. I love to draw and paint and watch the swans outside as they float on the river.

Last week I’ve been assisting Libbie with Rochester Riverside School’s week of art workshops in the Creation Space, and I’ve had a blast watching the kids make their mini masterpieces! I’ve just started my first project here – helping to reimagine the art bank, which is a space to donate unwanted art supplies and give them a new life, and you can check this out on the second floor!

Being at Sun Pier House has been amazing so far and I have been loving getting to know everyone! I can’t wait to see what this year has in store."

We’re delighted to have Emma with us and can’t wait to see all the creativity she brings to Sun Pier House. Welcome, Emma!

It is the final week to visit Sun Pier House to see the Ann Welch Retrospective - Spirit of Place Exhibition. Presented by Spirit Arts in the Riverside Gallery.

Once a month, we stay open a little later on a Thursday for Gallery Lates.

It’s a chance to take your time, enjoy the café and gallery into the evening, and make the most of the view across the River Medway as the sun goes down.

Our current exhibition is Spirit of Place – An Artistic Odyssey by the late Ann Welch, and you’re very welcome to settle in and spend some time with the work.

You can even order a takeaway from our wonderful friends at Poco Loco or Selale Restaurant and enjoy it here with a drink from the bar. We really don’t mind.

This Thursday, we’re also joined by Electric Medway for their Createch meet-up, alongside a very cool experimental music session from Minimus and a fully booked watercolour workshop in our creation space.

So, if you fancy making an evening of it, come and see us this Thursday till 8pm

This time last month we were 'on tour' at Rochester Cathedral!

We delivered a week of fun drawing activities, with our BIG DRAW on tour programme.

Over 1,000 frames were completed on our Draw Something You Love Curtains, 300 faces were added to the Community Crowd, and over 350 memories were caught in our nets 🤩

Being based in Rochester Cathedral was an amazing experience and we were thrilled to introduce so many new people to our little arts organisation, thank you to Dahlia and all the Cathedral team.

Come and get messy with us this Autumn!

If your little one loves getting stuck in, making a mess and exploring new things, this is the session for you! Join local artist Libbie in our Creation Space for a relaxed, playful painting session designed especially for under 5s.

Expect splodging, squishing, splattering and lots of colourful fun as little ones explore paint, texture and mark-making using safe, washable materials.

There’s no right or wrong way to do it, just plenty of opportunities to get creative, have fun and enjoy some messy play together.

What you need to know:
⭐️ Free-flow messy painting in our ground floor, fully accessible Creation Space
⭐️ Led by local artist Libbie
⭐️ £5 per child
⭐️ Our café will be open upstairs for a well-earned coffee and cake afterwards!

A little note for grown-ups: paint WILL get everywhere, so dress yourselves and your little ones in clothes you don't mind getting messy. Spare clothes are definitely recommended!

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times, and booking one ticket per child is essential.
