“My work is based on developing my psychological problems into art.”
Yayoi Kusama

Very sad to wake up to the news of the passing of Yayoi Kusama at the age 97.

It’s easy to look at Kusama’s bright pumpkins and endless fields of dots and see pure optimism. But Kusama didn’t paint dots because they were cute; she painted them to keep the demons at bay. Drawing on experiences of hallucinations, trauma and anxiety, she transformed repetition into a language of its own, turning the chaos of her inner world into something universal.

For more than seven decades, she kept translating that inner world into one we could all step inside. And perhaps that is one of the most extraordinary things about Kusama: she never simply represented infinity. She gave us a way to experience it.

So thank you, Kusama, for showing us that art isn’t just an aesthetic pursuit, but can be an anchor to life itself, a path toward survival and connection. The world is immeasurably richer for the worlds you created, and for the darkness you transformed into light.

You conquered the world on your own terms, because your universe was always far bigger than the physical space you occupied.

Rest in power, you magnificent titan.

In A Moment’s Pleasure #2 (2008), Mickalene Thomas captures a quiet, familiar moment between two women at home.

No grand gestures, no performance. Just pure intimacy and her signature rich textures.

Unveiled at Waterloo Place earlier this spring, Banksy’s latest public piece, Blinded by the Flag, has been drawing crowds and plenty of speculation about its meaning ever since.

Surrounded by the foreign embassies and government buildings of the St James neighbourhood, the work’s long-term future remained uncertain after Banksy claimed it on his Instagram account. Now, Westminster City Council is officially considering whether to make the installation permanent.

A spokesperson confirmed the sculpture will remain on view for at least a few more weeks while council members make their decision, which is expected by the end of summer.

What do you think? Should it stay? Let us know in the comments.

Today marks what would have been Andy Warhol’s 98th birthday, and it is hard to imagine modern culture without him.
Long before algorithms and selfie culture, he was already exploring our obsession with fame, media, and consumerism.

Behind the signature silver wig was a relentless innovator who proved that art isn’t just what you make; it’s how you see, shape, and capture your era.

Nearly four decades after his death, his influence is still everywhere.

Back in 2022, KAWS teamed up with the Serpentine in London for NEW FICTION, his first major solo exhibition in the UK. While the show grabbed attention for merging physical artworks with AR, for print collectors, the highlight was this edition.

Titled SHARE, the screenprint brings COMPANION and CHUM together in a single composition, capturing two of KAWS’ most iconic characters in one release.

Part of Damien Hirst’s Psalms series, this work takes its title directly from Psalm 11: In Domino Confido (“In the Lord I put my trust”).

Inspired by the intricate rose windows of Gothic cathedrals, the series brings together three of Hirst’s obsessions: beauty, mortality, and eternity. 🦋
