STIK’s Liberty mural in New York has reportedly been spared from being painted over, following a wave of public concern from the local community, collectors and supporters.

Painted in Tompkins Square in 2013, Liberty is more than a landmark mural. STIK describes the work as a power salute to the radical history of the area, including the 1874 workers’ riots and the 1988 housing riots.

That context matters.

STIK’s figures are famously minimal, but their emotional and social weight is rarely simple. A raised arm, a held hand, a standing figure, each gesture carries presence, vulnerability, resistance and solidarity.

The reaction around Liberty says a great deal about STIK’s place in contemporary street art. His work is not only collected, it is recognised, remembered and defended by the communities around it.

From Hackney to New York, STIK’s practice has always been rooted in visibility and shared public space. The saving of Liberty is a reminder that some works become more than images. They become part of a city’s memory.

D’Stassi Art works closely with collectors looking to acquire important works by STIK.

For rare, unique and special examples by the artist, please get in touch with the gallery directly.

Throwback to Angel ‘LA II’ Ortiz’s first UK print release with us in 2023: *Lemon Drop*.

Launched in tandem with a sold out exhibition, this edition came at a key moment in a wider run of activity that helped reassert Angel’s place in the spotlight, exactly where it should have been.

We have found a small number of prints from the original archive and are making them available quietly.

As street art continues to move further into the mainstream, the question of where the story really begins matters more, not less…

This week, Art UK announced that it has digitised nearly 7,000 murals across the UK, a sign of how seriously wall-based public art is now being documented and historicised.

At the same time, the wider market continues to reward major names from the late 20th century, with Jean-Michel Basquiat among the artists already being highlighted in Sotheby’s May New York sales.

For us, that only reinforces what has always mattered most… not trends, but origins.

D’Stassi Art remains focused on artists who helped define the visual language of downtown New York and the wider street art movement, including but not limited to the likes of Lady Pink, Keith Haring, Basquiat, Angel Ortiz, Al Diaz, Daze, COPE and Crash.

If you are looking to acquire works connected to this history, send us a DM or email the gallery directly.

Angel “LA II” Ortiz’s most recent self-released print, Spread Your Wings, is now fully sold out, including both the main edition and the artist’s proofs.

The print features one of Angel’s most recognisable recurring motifs, the spray can, alongside his iconic LA2 tag and LAROCK, another key part of his identity as an artist.

Released in 2026 as a 2-colour silkscreen on White Stonehenge 250gsm paper, the work measures 18 x 24 inches and was issued in an edition of 100, signed and numbered.

For collectors looking to acquire works by Angel Ortiz, please send us a DM or email the gallery directly and we will share what is currently available.

A special commission by Lady Pink, created for one of our collectors.

The brief called for subtle nods of appreciation to CRASH, which Lady Pink wove into the piece beautifully, notably across the train carriage. A thoughtful detail within a work that brings together her unmistakable visual language, New York energy, and the layered history of graffiti culture.

If you are looking to add a piece by a true street art legend to your collection, please do not hesitate to reach out. We would be very happy to assist.

Happy Birthday to the legendary Martha Cooper.

Few people have shaped the history of graffiti and street culture the way Martha has. Through her lens she documented the early writers of New York City, preserving a moment in time that would later define a global movement.

Her photographs, many of which appeared in the seminal book Subway Art, introduced the world to the energy and creativity of the original graffiti generation.

At D’Stassi Art we are proud to work with artists who were part of that story, including Lady Pink, whose work we recently exhibited in London.

Thank you Martha for documenting a culture that might otherwise have been lost.
