Today we are wishing Bridget Riley a very happy birthday. Born on 24 April 1931, Bridget Riley stands among the most important figures in post-war British art.

A pioneering force of Op Art, Riley transformed the act of seeing into something dynamic and deeply physical — her disciplined arrangements of line, curve, and contrast generating sensations of movement, vibration, and spatial flux.

Over the course of more than six decades, Riley has remained unwavering in her pursuit of visual clarity, building a body of work that continues to challenge and expand the boundaries of abstraction.

On her birthday, we celebrate not only an artist, but a visionary who redefined how we experience painting.

Henry Moore’s home, studios and sculpture gardens reopen to the public today following a major redevelopment of the Sheep Field Barn, which includes a dedicated presentation on Moore’s life and work, as well as an important display of the artist’s world-renowned Shelter Drawings. We can’t wait to visit!

We look forward to celebrating Moore’s work further with an exhibition of sculptures in June!

Following the success of TEFAF Maastricht 2026, a statement from our CEO, Jonathan Green:

“As the curtain rose on the 12th March at Maastricht — the greatest show on earth — headlines were dominated by conflict in the Middle East. Dealers whispered in the aisles of the MECC: Will the clients come? And will they be in a spending mood?

Our fears were unfounded. The Old Master market is remarkably resilient — quality always prevails.

The consensus among the world’s leading dealers was overwhelmingly positive, and the private art market continues to grow following three years of correction which sadly saw many gallery closures worldwide.

We are delighted to be exhibiting at TEFAF New York in May 2026 and look forward to seeing you there.”
