You can decide to make delicious chocolate truffles and lollies on your next visit or book a party. The Chocolate Museum is an independent museum established by Isabelle Alaya, a French artisan chocolatier, who started her own brand, Melange Chocolate, in 2008. Our mission is to inspire a passion for learning about quality chocolate and its history both in Britain and worldwide. Located in the heart of vibrant Brixton, The Chocolate Museum is a unique place in London where you can make, taste and learn about chocolate. We run a very dynamic programme of workshops for kids, adults, the whole family, schools, holiday clubs, home education, corporate groups and special occasions. The programme includes special dates for half term and summer holidays. The museum has a permanent exhibition with range of objects and memorabilia acquired over many years from different merchants and collectors. We also have important books with valuable information about chocolate. The menu includes hot chocolates, drinks, a unique selection of chocolates and the drop-in chocolate making sessions for adults and kids when anybody can come and make your own chocolate truffles and lollies, using good quality chocolates, fillings and a nice range of decorations. We also hold events with food, chocolate demonstrations by expert chocolatiers or bean-to-bar makers and drop-in workshops.

WEEK 10:
The First Solid Chocolate, and J for Joseph Fry

Do you know where and when the first solid chocolate was invented?
🍫
"[Joseph] Fry started his apothecary business in 1753 with jars of leeches in his windows and cocoa he was promoting as a healthy drink and a highly nutritious alternative to alcohol. It was soon sold to the aristocracy in coffee houses"

"[He] soon opened a warehouse in London and became the largest commercial producer of chocolate in Britain, transforming more than 40% of the cocoa imported to Britain in his factory."

We had a lovely time at the Chocolate Museum today. The chocolates were so much fun to make and our host was incredibly friendly!
We had a lovely time thank you very much- 4 very sugar high kiddies lol
One more thing (from a teacher) - If you visit (and you should!) - make sure these guys get PAID! A small business like this cannot manage with cashflow problems - staff just don't get paid. When you get home, after a long school trip (we all know how that feels!) - make sure you go to your school office and ASK if the invoice has been paid yet. The staff at the Chocolate Museum have worked hard to entertain and educate your children. They're NOT on a salary. Support these guys ! Don't let school financial 'admin' stop these wonderful people from actually being paid. Help 'em out! And a big Portuguese kiss to my favourite Chocolateer!
Dear Chocolate Museum... BRILLIANT! I'm a primary school teacher who took 60 ten-year-olds from Brighton up to Brixton for workshops. We had a WONDERFUL time! You must go. The children (AND adults!) really enjoyed it. The people there are brilliant, well informed, professional and, more importantly, FUN! We have some very 'difficult' children with a variety of special needs - and the chocolate museum provided ALL our children with an interesting, stimulating and wonderfully 'chocolatey' experience. Most highly recommended! Mr. Mole - Year 5 teacher. :-)
How much is it get in? Thanks
Thank you,Hannah(I hope that I write your name correct),so much for all you teach us today.Love you💋
