Pavel and Samson's 2.6 Challenge

Carrying on our 2.6 Challenge, the wonderful Pavel Kolesnikov and Samson Tsoy contributed with this enchanting piece from Rachmaninov's Opus 26.
A note from Pavel:
Our CHALLENGE 2.6: “singing about love without words”.
We’ve arranged for 4 hands this miracle of a song, Rachmaninov’s “By my window” from Op.26 (of course!). It’s about intoxicating fragrance of a bird-cherry in bloom - we’ve spotted one a few steps away from our place! Please enjoy and donate to the wonderful . Our next Ragged Music Festival will take place Oct 2-4 2020!

The 2.6 Challenge - Save the UK's Charities

This Sunday 26th April RSM will be taking part in the 2.6 Challenge to raise vital funds for the museum that have been lost due to Coronavirus.
Help us raise vital funds for the Museum by completing a challenge to raise money. Your challenge doesn’t need to be big, this could be something as simple as pledging to run 2.6 miles as your daily exercise to doing 26 minutes of yoga, or juggling for 26 minutes (or maybe just 2.6 minutes) non-stop.

Any money that you raise can be donated to the central pot via our Just Giving page here: https://twopointsixchallenge.justgiving.com/get-involved Just search Ragged School Museum.
Please share this link with your supporters.
All money raised will be divided proportionally to all the charities involved so you will not only be helping the Museum but charities across the country. The more money we raise, the more we will receive.

Spread the word by posting photos or video of your challenge with the official hashtag and tag us and help us re-open the Museum doors.

Our good friends and renowned pianists Pavel Kolesnikov and Samson Tsoy will be contributing with 26 minutes of heavenly playing and our Learning Officer Jennie will be Hula Hooping for 2.6 hours! If you’re confined to being indoors what about knitting, drawing, playing the drums on tin cans, or like our Director Erica Davies, attempting to stroke the cats!

The 2.6 Challenge is open to anyone of any age – the only requirement is that the activity must follow the Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing.

Good Luck Challengers!

Take on the 2.6 Challenge and save the UK's Charities

Check out these wonderful photos of The Gower School visiting Miss Perkins this week! We love it! Thanks for visiting guys!

This week the Year Five and Six children visited the Ragged School which Dr Barnardo opened in 1877! They saw a Victorian kitchen and looked at many different household items. The children were then split into five groups and had to use their knowledge to find out what different items were used for. There was a shoe last, an iron holder, a hot water bottle, curling tongs and a laundry tool to clean clothes. They also got to experience a Victorian time classroom with Miss Perkins. The children were put through a very strict lesson. She checked to see if their hands were clean, they had to write with chalk using only their right hands and also had to solve some maths problems. Miss Perkins' motto was 'children should be seen and not heard'.

Thanks Samson, Pavel, Elina, Aurelien, Tamsin, Emma, Ann and Nathaniel, you were all exquisite!
