On #internationalwomensday we had to mention the fabulous Countess of Limerick.
She resided at Hall Place from 1917 - 1943. Overcoming many trials during her lifetime, as well as working hard to restore and maintain Hall Place even though she was only a tenant (for which we are very grateful).
Did you also know she set up the Shamrock League - selling buttonholes of the Irish National emblem to raise money for soldiers and sailors of the Boer War. Her charity work continued during the First World War when she, alongside other ladies, set up a buffet at London Bridge Station for returning service men. She was awarded a CBE in 1920 for this work.
If you would like to learn more about the Countess then why not come along to one of our historic house tours https://www.hallplace.org.uk/guided-tours/
