CasildART is opening its central London gallery space to an artist, artist collectives, independent curators, and nomadic gallerists to curate their own exhibition.

One selected applicant will receive:
- A FREE 7-day exhibition
- Full use of both gallery floors

Yesterday afternoon I went to hear Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw in conversation at the Southbank Centre, beautifully held by Hirsch.
Crenshaw told a story about solidarity, about choosing the collective even when the individual option feels easier.

That lesson came back to me today.

Running a Black‑led, mission‑driven gallery means navigating limited resources, structural inequities, and the emotional labour of holding space for artists and community. We do this work because we believe in the We, in building something bigger than any one person.

So when critique shows up publicly without context or conversation, it stings. In truth it leaves you deflated. Not because accountability is unwelcome, but because the attempt of public shaming removes nuance. It overlooks the wider ecosystem, the intention, and the collective effort behind the scenes.

Not all galleries are the same.
Not all artists are the same.
The truth sits somewhere in the middle.

I’m choosing to stay rooted in the mission:
uplifting Black art, amplifying stories, and building community with integrity.

The work continues.
Always for the We.

We believe in creating space: space to experiment, to be seen, and amplify stories that rarely get the platform they deserve.

This curatorial opportunity is an invitation to submit your curatorial concept to us for the chance to win a 7‑day exhibition FREE of CHARGE in our Marble Arch gallery.

We’re looking for proposals that focus on groundbreaking ideas, that rethink material culture, storytelling, form, identity, or the purpose of art. In short:

Your project does not need to be about Blackness or diaspora. We champion underrepresented voices and underexplored ideas, wherever they come from.

Your donation will support this initiative as well as CasildART’s programme of work. We have a dedicated focus on championing artists of African and Caribbean heritage and we are committed to equity and representation - which extends beyond identity alone. We recognise there are many UK‑based artists, collectives and independent curators whose ideas and practices remain underserved or those who want to experiment, take risks, and bring fresh perspectives into the gallery space.

New Exhibition: Two Soils, One Eye.

We are pleased to host curators,
Dina Dabbas Rifai and Wendi Agosta curators of Two Soils, One Eye featuring artists Ammar Khammash and Charles Wilson.

Come and explore a unique visual dialogue between a Jordanian and a British artist as they translate two distinct countries into a singular subject. Discover the striking similarities and juxtapositions of their abstract landscapes, through colours that deeply reflect the soil of their native backgrounds.

Nadiia Rom is a Ukrainian artist based in London. She graduated from the Poltava National Polytechnic University in Ukraine, where she studied architecture. Following her studies, she worked as an architect and interior designer across Ukraine and Europe.

In 2016, Nadiia shifted her focus to painting and has since exhibited her work throughout Europe and the UK. She relocated to London in 2023, where she continues her artistic practice, working primarily in oils and pastels. Her work explores both figurative and abstract compositions.

Nadiia is the recipient of several awards, including being a finalist in the Best Professional & Established Artist category at the VAA Artist of the Year Awards 2025.
