Take part in our Thanksgiving themed ‘Cook Off”!!

Kiplin Hall shares its origin story with the US State of Maryland via the Calvert Family. In recognition of this connection, we mark Thanksgiving at Kiplin Hall. The displays offer visitors the chance to pause in the autumn, ahead of the busy festive season, and reflect on what we are grateful for. This year our displays explore the bounty of the earth. The produce grown and food enjoyed at this time of year in Maryland today and in the past.

Whether you are able to visit Kiplin Hall in person or not, we invite you to take part in our Cook Off. Each week we will share a recipe on our social media feeds. If you’d like to have a go at making it, please post photographs of your bake in the comments under the recipe post. We’d love to hear from you about how the cooking went, how the food tastes, and things you are grateful for.

Ready, Steady…

This week’s recipe is Squash Pie. Squash is one of the crops known as the ‘Three Sisters’, squash, corn and beans, grown together as companion plants by Native Americans. This recipe comes from the Kiplin Hall’s archive held by North Yorkshire Archives.

From Friday 2nd Oct – Thursday 26th November displays at Kiplin Hall explore themes of thankfulness and gratitude. Open 6 days a week, closed on Thursdays.

TODAY - Crowe’s Wood Halloween Trail - NOW OPEN!!

Enjoy our spook-tacular outdoor trail this autumn. Discover things that go bump behind bark and branches. Legends of wolves and witches, ghosts and ghouls. Explore our Haunted Woodland if you dare!

We encourage visitors to dress up for Halloween during the trail, we love to see your costumes! Aimed at families with primary school aged children, although we hope older children (and adults) will enjoy it too.

The trail is on bark and earth paths that can get very muddy. Please wear sensible footwear and expect prams or pushchairs to get muddy.

Friday 16th October - Wednesday 4th November open 6 days a week, closed on Thursdays. Included with admission.

(If you do not enjoy Halloween events but would like to visit this autumn keep in mind the spooky displays are confined to the woodland area. These areas can be bypassed if you wish. The hall, lakeside paths, and parkland routes will be Halloween free zones. During this time a beautiful display on theme of Thanksgiving is taking place inside the Hall.)

There are just 6 weeks of the 2026 season at Kiplin Hall and Gardens left to go!

Visit to enjoy our 2026 exhibition Wood; from utility to beauty. Our Thanksgiving displays in the Hall. Crowe’s Wood Halloween Trail in the woodland. Our festive treasures in the Gift Shop. And all the autumn joy the Café and Gardens have to offer.

We are open 6 days a week, closed on Thursdays, with one notable exception. We will be OPEN on Thursday 26th November, Thanksgiving Day. We open on Thanksgiving Day in recognition of our shared origin story with Maryland USA via the Calvert family and in celebration of the gratitude we have for all the wonderful volunteers, past and present, who make Kiplin Hall and Gardens such a special place.

Kiplin Hall and Gardens will be closed in December and January, but we are busy behind the scenes with our winter conversation clean in the Hall and maintenance in the Garden.

Doors (and gates) reopening on Friday 5th February 2027.

Seeking feedback. What do you like about leaflets?

Each year we produce a paper leaflet to market Kiplin Hall & Gardens. Can you spare a minute to let us know what you like, or don't like, when it comes to leaflets. Please show your opinion via your 'like click'. or tell us more in the comments.

❤️ I love a chunky paper leaflet with lots of text and detailed information about the place. I read it fully and it helps me look forward to a real life visit.

👍 I like a light touch leaflet that is short and sweet, just the basics of what the attraction is, opening times and prices. I'll look up anything else I need to know online.

😅 I don't use leaflets and rarely read them, I just use the internet instead.

Picture of a scone purely for attention - doesn't it look yummy!
