‘Digital stripped art of its substance, but I still add my soul to my photos.’ Chris Cuffaro
Proud Galleries is excited to present ‘Greatest Hits’, an exhibition celebrating photographer, director, and producer Chris Cuffaro and his 30-year journey in music photography. Chris shares the stories behind his most iconic images and the making of this extraordinary collection. After three decades of shooting in Los Angeles, Chris felt it was time to honour his two greatest loves: photography and music.
This exhibition showcases Chris’s passion, featuring the best of his extensive catalogue of music photography and a trailer of his documentary. From candid back-alley shots to studio portraits, ‘Greatest Hits’ includes legendary names such as Nirvana, George Harrison, No Doubt, Ice Cube, Alice in Chains, Red Hot Chili Peppers, INXS, Pearl Jam, Jane’s Addiction, Korn, Rob Zombie, Iggy Pop, Willie Nelson, and many more. These photographs are not just part of music history but now reveal the artist behind the lens.
‘Greatest Hits’ is Chris Cuffaro’s way of expressing gratitude to everyone he has worked with over the years, celebrating the moments and artists that have helped him live his dream.
Congratulations to Stephen Wright on having his iconic shot of The Smiths displayed at the National Portrait Gallery. The exhibition featuring this work is on from 15 July onwards and editions are available to purchase on our website.
Queen - The Last Tour by .svensson.photography

Here are a few shots by Lexie Sapsford of New Rules live on stage at Notting Hill Arts Club.
One week to go until Chris Stein's new publication, Under a Rock: A Memoir is released!
Debbie Harry crafted the iconic look of Blondie, while Chris Stein, her collaborator, lover, and lifelong friend, shaped the band's distinctive sound. Their third album, Parallel Lines, achieved massive success, reaching number one, selling 20 million copies, and producing classic singles like Heart of Glass, Hangin' On the Telephone, and One Way or Another. These songs provided the rhythm for Studio 54 parties and became the anthem for countless 1970s punk-infused romances.
Chris Stein is a master storyteller, and Under A Rock: A Memoir is his no-holds-barred autobiography. The book delves into the formation of Blondie, their ascent to pop stardom, and the challenges that accompanied their success.
While the memoir features famous personalities like Warhol, Bowie, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, its true allure lies in Stein's vivid recounting of the moments that fueled the artistic boom of the 1980s. This revelatory, engaging memoir offers an unparalleled glimpse into an era that shaped modern music and art.
Today is the final day of our current exhibition, OFF STAGE. Thank you to all of the photographers, visitors, and everyone who supported the show.

A photography exhibition that invites the viewer to delve into the world of celebrity and rockstars off stage, behind the scenes, and on the move. The show explores the relationship and dynamics of the photographers and their subject matters under more challenging, unusual, and intimate contexts rather than capturing them while performing or in controlled studio environments. OFF STAGE groups together these organic encounters and photo sessions, bringing to life a whole new dimension and visual narrative on how we look at the modern icons we all love.
It was a pleasure having Leeroy Thornhill stop by the gallery yesterday afternoon!

'As I came from the EMI canteen, one of the female studio staff stopped me, put a hand on my shoulder and said to me, 'I must touch you as you've been in the same room as The Beatles.' It was as if I carried an aura from the Beatles.' David Magnus
In the early 1960's David joined a small general purpose photographic studio in Jermyn Street London W1. It was here that David learnt to print photographs and how to process film, whilst also helping as an assistant in the studio, David would occasionally go on photographic shoots with the main photographers.
One day on the 4th April 1963 as a very young photographer of 19 years of age, David was sent out on his own to photograph a pop group who were playing an end of term concert at Stowe School, in Buckinghamshire U.K. This was Davids first photographic session with The Beatles. This session was well received and more sessions followed.
David’s early work with The Beatles and their acceptance of him allowed David unprecedented access to them. This culminated when The Beatles took part in the first ever live world-wide TV satellite broadcast called 'Our World'. Each of the 19 countries taking part would to have it's own segment featuring something special from that country. The U.K. segment was a live performance of The Beatles recording their song All You Need Is Love'.
