Introduction to Life Drawing
for Beginners
Always wanted to have a go but worried that you wouldn't be good enough. If so, this is the workshop for you! This one day workshop is for complete beginners and will be delivered by artist, Tony Mallon.

To complement the Nain's Footsteps Exhibition, we are displaying photographs, postcards and memorabilia from the personal collection of the late Enid and Gwyndaf Jones of Abbey Road, Llangollen.
The Exhibition is a visual history of the Llangollen Peace Group.

Karl Smith Watercolour Workshop
On Thursday 5th September, Artist Karl Smith will be hosting a one-day watercolour workshop here at the gallery.
With the kids back at school, why not treat yourself? Any level welcome!
The workshop will last from 10am - 4pm, £65 per person, no booking fee.
The workshop will begin in the gallery, followed by painting at various locations outside. Locations to be confirmed.

Claudia Frost Exhibition
From yesterday, come check out our newest art exhibition from artist Claudia Frost.
She is a North-Wales Based artist who works predominantly in encaustic-wax media. She is also a charted landscape architect & urban designer who delights in exploring and trying to create new ways of seeing the world around her, through both art and design.
Encaustic painting is a two thousand (plus) year old method of painting using beeswax mixed with pigments and damar resin, which raises the melting point and hardens the painting into a permanent archival piece.

Our next free exciting exhibition taking place, is Nain's Footsteps, which will highlight the one hundredth anniversary of the Welsh Women's Peace Petition 1924.
In 1923-24, 390,296 women from Wales signed an appeal to the women of America calling for world peace. Over 2023-24, we will be celebrating their efforts and legacy through the Academi Heddwch partnership, and National Lottery Heritage Funded project 'Hawlio Heddwch'.
This exhibition will run from June 29th - August 11th, Saturday & Sunday 10am -4pm, also by appointment.

These new editions to Danusia Kielar's exhibition are framed originals for sale and can be seen until the 23rd June.
Local artist Louise Edwards's new exhibition is now on display here at the Dory Gallery until June 23rd.
"I try to capture a human moment in the expression of the face that the viewer can empathise with, despite the distortions surrounding it. Often people do not look further than the ‘labels’ they see at first glance - status, class, age, size, colour etc, and sometime people don’t look at all. By forcing the viewer to read the look over the confusing distortion, I hope it reinforces that the human connection has nothing to do with labelling."
Artist Jan Wallis's last installation, "Still Spinning" which was at the Dory Gallery, can now be seen down in the dell at Plas Newydd!
The figures are embedded in the environment for all to see.
This Thursday 6th June, 11am to 1pm, Jan will be giving a talk at the house about the carvings and her work. From 2pm there will also a walk along the dell exploring her work and the stories behind the figures.
Other talks will be taking place on July 11th and August 1st

This will be fun, informal and is suitable for beginners or those wanting to develop their techniques.
Morning session - will focus on a series of life drawing poses. Please bring along your sketch pads, pencils, charcoal etc. Boards will be provided.
Afternoon session - the sketches from the morning session will be developed to produce abstract n**e artwork. Please note there will be materials provided to produce collages using coloured paper (see above image).
If you want to work in other mediums, please bring them along.

Experts to give free valuations of antiques and art
A free valuation of antiques, paintings and jewellery will take place at The Dory Gallery in Regent Street on Friday May 3, from 10am-4pm.
Organised by Halls Fine Art Auctioneers of Shrewsbury, it will feature specialists Maryanne Lineker-Mobberley, Abigail Molenaar and Alexander Clement.
Halls says that valuations can be given for items of Asian art, coins, decorative arts, ceramics, furniture, clocks, jewellery, silver, watches, paintings, prints and more.
