About Andrew Glidden
Andrew Glidden studied at Edinburgh College of Art in the early 1980s. In August 2017 he started his first ‘52 in 52’ series of weekly fifteen-minute sketches over the course of a year, completing number 52 in August 2018. Andrew donated all the profits from the exhibition to Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK), a sum of over £7,000.

Andrew undertook his second series of ‘52 in 52’ throughout the full calendar year of 2021, commencing on January 1st and completing on December 26th, exhibiting all 52 weekly fifteen-minute sketches in The Dundas Street Gallery in 2022. Although Andrew was at pains to highlight that he did not intend to donate the profits to ARUK on this occasion, he did in fact auction one of the original paintings during the exhibition and donated the proceeds once again to ARUK.

On January 1st 2023, Andrew started his third series, entitled ‘52 in 52, further sketches of Edinburgh and beyond...’ completing on December 31st 2023, the results of which you can see in his latest exhibition in The Dundas Street Gallery, Edinburgh.

A new exhibition opens tomorrow:

Insight
19 -23 January
open daily 10am to 5pm

Hosted by The University of Edinburgh Gallery Society
Featuring works by students from the University of Edinburgh. Behind each piece is a story which offers an 'insight' into the life or experience of each artist, and what the word means to them. The curation of the exhibition aims to highlight how diversity can unite rather than divide, and will connect these pieces, through interactive and visual means.

The exhibition is organised in collaboration with Edinburgh Raising and Giving (RAG), donating a portion of the revenue from the opening night and events to the Pilton Community Health Project and FreshStart.

CHRIS BROOK - TOKEN
2-7 September
open daily 11am-6pm

"An exhibition of both new large and small scale works, featuring pieces from three ongoing series, Token, Quilt and Linear Land.
While all three series will stand alone in their own right, they are inexstricably linked through the use of materials, mark making and preoccupation of subject matter, the elemental effect of time, upon time worn surfaces. I am intrigued by the partially revealed, and our innate ability to extract information from the eroded remnants which remain, in both an historical and aesthetic sense." Chris Brook

A new exhibition opens today, 11th May and runs until 18th May:

M O R T A L I T Y
new work by artist/writer Jac Saorsa

Open daily 10am-5pm

Ten years in the making, M O R T A L I T Y features 20 oil paintings and a substantial collection of drawings resulting from the artist’s experience of working within the worlds of medical and anatomical science. This exhibition is complex and intriguing, harrowing and uplifting in equal measure, and the exploration of mortality – the universal condition of sentient being – is the implicit, sometimes explicit, connecting thread. The exhibition, complemented by a comprehensive catalogue, is not afraid to challenge the viewer while, at the same time, presenting a sensitive and celebratory exploration of the fundamental aspect of humanity that we all share.
