"In the end, the things I include in my paintings are the things I love: family, books and reading, lower-league football, animals, sand, water, clear skies and quietude. The paintings bring these elements together into imagined worlds that hopefully feel both familiar and slightly out of reach." - Saul Robertson RSW RGI

You can view all of Saul's wonderfully mediative artworks on our website or in the gallery, 'Blue Remembered' is on show until the 19th September. 🌟

The Open Eye Gallery has proudly represented the John Bellany Estate for over 30 years. We are the Estate's sole supplier in Scotland and work closely with the Bellany family to support and celebrate the artist's enduring legacy. Distinct from other galleries, we deal exclusively in works supplied directly through the Estate and do not trade in secondary-market pieces.

Among the works currently on display is this iconic self-portrait by John Bellany. 'The Scarlet Cord' bring together elements of Bellany's distinctive visual language, including the clock and the Skate, which make his work so immediately recognisable. These recurring motifs belong to the rich personal symbolism that run's through Bellany's work, recalling the fishing community of his upbringing and evoking ideas of time, fate and mortality.

For all enquiries, please email the gallery.

🌟Opening Friday! 🌟

We're delighted to welcome a beautiful new exhibition by Saul Robertson RSW RGI.

'Blue Remembered' continues Saul's fascination with Idyllic imagery, bringing together fragments of observation, memory and invention. Largely imagined, these places are shaped by recurring motifs that appear across the works, forming a distinctive and deeply personal visual vocabulary.
