Final Week of “First Impressions”

“Aw Shoot” - Hattie Gledson

Love this colourful little painting by Hattie Gledson. Hattie aims to catch a moment in time, she draws from life and takes photographs of people in their everyday lives, then, on returning to the studio, puts paintbrush to canvas to experiment with colour and composition. This painting was partly inspired by the song “Aw Shoot” by Irish artist CMAT.

Love this colourful little painting by
Alice’s work is based on memories of time spent out and about with friends. Colour is a key part of her work, experimenting with different palettes to recreate the chaos and calm of cherished memories.
Alice’s work is part of our current exhibition “First Impressions” which is on until the 20th of July. The exhibition is also available to view online.

First Impressions is the debut of five new young artists to the gallery, and we are so excited to share their work with you.
Some of the artists will be in the gallery today and there will be the opportunity to speak to them about their work.

We loved welcoming so many of you to Heriot Gallery on Saturday to celebrate the opening of “People Watching”.

Raquel Alvarez Sardinia at age 17 joined Academia Leonardo da Vinci and in 1986 did a degree in Fine Arts. Whilst doing her degree she attended Academia Sant Vincenç and Boter/Santalo and completed a drawing course at Academia Lorenzo de Medici’ in Florence. Graduating in 1996 she then studied her Masters Degree at Cardiff University.

In 2016 she was elected Member of the Society of Women Artists (SWA).

Her work has been exhibited in Spain, England and United States.
