Braintree Village Street Food Festival is back next weekend!

The two-day event, on 5 and 6 September promises a weekend of flavour-packed dishes, artisanal produce and music performances.

Traders will include:

Gyroland
Sweet N Delish

The event will be open from 11am- 8pm on Saturday and 11am–6pm on Sunday and will be located adjacent to the North Car Park.

Entry to the festival is free, with food and drink available to purchase. Guests are welcome to enjoy the music and atmosphere throughout the weekend and can take advantage of up to six hours of free parking at Braintree Village, making it even easier to enjoy the festivities.

Have you visited Wonky Wheel Gallery in Castle Hedingham?

This art and gift gallery showcases local artists and makers from Essex, Suffolk and Cambridge,

It is run by Mary alongside her partner Rob. Beginning in 2019, they had a gallery space in Finchingfield before moving to a new space in Castle Hedingham in 2025.

They say: "Our vision is to make art accessible and affordable for all. By providing reasonably priced artwork, we aim to inspire individuals from diverse backgrounds and demonstrate that art is within reach for everyone!"

The space includes an art gallery where there are quarterly exhibitions and a curated gift shop with a beautiful range of authentic, handmade products from skilled artisans and independent makers.

As well as hosting events there, they also host external Exhibitions and Makers’ Market events in Finchingfield Guildhall and The Old Goods Shed in Clare.

The gallery is open Tuesday to Thursday 9.30am to 3pm and Saturday 9.30am to 3pm.

Witham Town Council is hosting a Summer Fayre THIS Saturday 22 August!

This brand new free event is being held on the River Walk between Bridge Street and Maldon Road.

It will feature 80+ stalls, fun games, local artists, mobile zoo, children's entertainer as well as a cake competition and biggest vegetables competition for Witham residents.

WHITE NOTLEY DUCK RACE! 🦆

The 21st annual White Notley Duck race is taking place on Sunday 30 August!

The charity event sees rubber ducks released from the drop off point behind the village hall and finish at the ford in Station Road. The ducks race down the river Brain for about a mile before they are collected at the ford.

You can buy ducks on the day or speak to a member of the White Notley Duck Race Committee to get yours before race day.

There is a great selection of prizes in the duck race for participants to win and it offers a great family day out with a BBQ and live music at the .whitenotley after the race.

ONE MONTH TO GO! SAVE THE DATE!

The famous Witham Street Entertainment Festival is just a month away and is set to take place on Saturday 19 September!

This annual festival is held in the town centre with acts performing in the Newlands Shopping Centre, the Grove Shopping Centre and in Newland Street itself, where they close the road between Collingwood Road and Maldon Road.

Enjoy a whole host of street entertainment that is fun for all ages.

One of Essex's most unique and entertaining village traditions is back as the Finchingfield Three-Legged Race returns this September, promising a day packed with fun, laughter and community spirit.

Hundreds of visitors are expected to descend on the picturesque village to watch competitors in fancy dress splash through the famous village pond before racing to the finish line, all while raising money for local youth charity FinCHE.

The Finchingfield Three-Legged Race takes place on Sunday 13 September 2026 on The Green, Finchingfield. The event runs from 12pm to 5pm with the children’s race starting at 14.45pm and the main race starting at 4pm. Entry is free for spectators and everyone is welcome.

Throughout the day enjoy food and drink, stalls, raffle, dog show, duck race and a prize for best dressed dog!
