Artist of the Month: Carla Elizabeth

Elegant and poised, the avocet glides through life with quiet confidence. A reminder that strength does not always have to be loud and that there can be grace even during life’s most challenging moments.

Meet Carla Elizabeth, a Suffolk-based artist inspired by the coast, countryside and wildlife of East Anglia. Working in acrylics, oils, pastels and mixed media, Carla creates expressive pieces full of colour, character and a real love of the natural world.

After a career in graphic design, Carla returned to painting in 2022 and has since built a beautiful collection of work, from atmospheric seascapes to contemporary bird studies. She also runs welcoming art workshops, helping others enjoy creativity in a relaxed and supportive way.

Following a breast cancer diagnosis in 2026, Carla created *Carla’s T**s* — a thoughtful and humorous collection of bird paintings designed to spark conversations around breast awareness. Alongside her *Feathered Friends* collection, the work celebrates creativity, connection and hope.

Carla regularly exhibits across Suffolk and Norfolk and works from her garden studio near Woodbridge.

Artist Spotlight: Louise Man

Today we’re shining a spotlight on the wonderful Louise Man, an Essex-based artist living in Thaxted.

Louise paints flowers and landscapes in oils and watercolours, using a beautifully loose approach that lets her brushstrokes bring energy, movement and life into each piece.

Her delicate watercolour designs have also been transformed into a gorgeous range of greetings cards, prints, tea towels, cushions and mugs — with favourites including robins, agapanthus and eryngium, bearded iris and anemones.

Flower Lino Printing Edition Workshop

Join us for a delightful two-hour creative session at Wonky Wheel Gallery, where you can try your hand at lino printing and create your very own prints to take home.

Choose from one of the ideas supplied, or bring your own design ready to go. We’ll guide you through transferring, cutting and hand-printing your design, step by step.

This workshop is suitable for all abilities and includes all materials, tuition and refreshments — all you need to bring is yourself.
