Tuesday’s service of remembrance at the end of Pit Lane was very poignant and well attended. We were overcome by the number of friends who came to the museum for tea, coffee and cakes, the atmosphere was buzzing as memories and stories were shared of those men who were lost and those who will remember that sad day forever. We would like to thank Alistair who led the service.

We are currently experiencing difficulty keeping up with our records as our Chair is on a staged return to volunteering following a small brain bleed in March. If there is anyone out there who could help us keeping our acquisition log and other data recorded on Excel up to date we would love to have you join our award winning team. The amount of time you put in is entirely up to you, our opening times are Sunday and Wednesday 11 ‘til 3, please come along and we can show you around and supply you with tea/coffee and biscuits.

Only 4 sleeps until our Summer Coffee Morning and Fred is guarding the raffle prizes, he'll be 'helping' us set up on Friday ready for the big day. See you all there, we have a table for the Scouts Safari on Sunday as well, so lots and lots of bargains, especially beach/pool toys for the kids in this hot weather.

Our next coffee morning on the 27th June is creeping up incredibly quickly and we are short of raffle and tombola prizes. If anyone can help with donations of suitable items we would be very grateful, as we rely on coffee mornings to raise funds for the everyday running of the museum.
We would also like to thank everyone for their support for these events and if you would like to volunteer to help on the day that would be great.
If you are new to the village or would just like to make new friends and learn about village history please consider volunteering at the museum, we are very friendly and if you are not sure, come along on a Sunday or Wednesday just to have a look round and a cuppa with our volunteers.
Many thanks, Fred and our award winning team.
