January nearly done...... it can only mean one thing, Shrovetide is on its way! If you are coming to see the exhibition in Ashbourne Historical Centre we have a couple of treats for you, pick up the Ashbourne Royal Shrovetide Football Trail and wander around the footsteps of The Down'ards and The Up'ards, or if The Making and Painting of The Royal Shrovetide Ball interests you pick up The Art of Shrovetide an in-depth guide about our precious leathers and understand why "Painting the Shrovetide Football and expecting it to come back intact is like throwing a china tea service to a rugby scrum and expecting it to survive"
Both leaflets are available to pick up in The Historical Centre, there is no fee but we suggest a donation of £2.00 each to cover costs.

A family collection of leathers is on display at Ashbourne Historical Centre . The Lemon family, Andrew and his two sons Wayne and Stuart have all goaled in our historic game in 1980, 2006 and 2008. Plus we have added Andrew's nephew Steve Wright to the shelf from 1996.
