Different Jewish journeys. A place to belong.
Our idea was simple: celebrate Jewish diversity and welcome everyone, wherever they are in their Jewish journey. ✨
We opened Limud Mallorca, and from there, everything changed.

More and more people began joining us. People with Jewish roots, people with connections to Jewish life, Israelis, Germans, French people and others looking for an open, inclusive community.

We came from different backgrounds, but we shared a desire to connect and belong. Seeing people find that connection here in Mallorca has meant so much to us.

Sometimes, putting down roots means helping a community grow. 🌱

Originally from New Jersey and living in Palma de Mallorca, I was newly married and looking for a deeper sense of belonging.

I wanted to build a life in a place where there wasn’t much active community life. What followed gave me a sense of purpose: bringing people together and helping build community where others might not expect to find it.

Behind the tours and the stories, is this personal motivation: to connect people and create a sense of belonging.

I grew up visiting the island and only knew the Jewish Americans who had moved there. Then I started asking questions.

From candle-lighting traditions, the story goes back to the voyages from Spain and Portugal, when Jews were escaping the Inquisition. This conversation explores the questions that connect family customs, migration and identity.

Until 1898, Puerto Rico was part of Spain: a Catholic country, ruled by the king and the church. Religious freedom didn’t exist.

That meant Jews who had fled the Inquisition lived in hiding. It wasn’t until the 1950s that there were enough Jews on the island to form a community.

That’s the history behind our film about Jewish life in Puerto Rico. 🇵🇷

I had been coming to Puerto Rico my entire life… but I had NEVER heard this story. 🕎🌴

High in the mountains of Puerto Rico is a place called Adam’s Pond, where I had heard stories of people using the natural waters as a mikvah.

I had to see it with my own eyes.

Puerto Rico has a Jewish story most travelers never hear, and the deeper I explored, the more I realized how much I didn’t know.

I made a short film about this hidden Jewish story that I’d love to share with you.

Not Mallorca this time. 🇵🇷
My family has lived in Puerto Rico for decades, and there was always one story nobody could confirm: a hidden community in the mountains.
Puerto Rico was Spanish until 1898. Just like in Mallorca, Catholic descendants of Jewish Conversos who escaped the Inquisition had to hide who they were.
So I went to find out what was left. ⛰️

Is there Jewish history in Spain or France? More than you’d think.

I moved to Mallorca for work, and I honestly thought I’d be the only Jewish person on the island. Spain doesn’t have a large Jewish community. France has around 400,000 Jews, the largest in Europe, but many have been leaving as antisemitism has risen.

There’s a whole Jewish story in Mallorca. 🇪🇸
