TOMAR ALTURA — Solo exhibition by Marco Bizzarri

“To remain suspended, just like the dust in the landscape.”
Tomar Altura invites you to pause. Marco Bizzarri’s photographs and paintings emerge from his journeys through northern Chile — the Humboldt Archipelago, the Los Choros region — and from an archive built over the years, where light reveals what mining dust leaves suspended in the air.
From repeated routes to the staircases that recur in every image, isolated and without clear function, Bizzarri works through what curator Esmeralda Gómez Galera describes as an ephemeral architecture — structures that recall what Robert Smithson called “ruins in reverse,” belonging fully to neither past nor future.
Tomar Altura is at once an archive and an ascent.

“Quedar en suspensión, igual que el polvo en el paisaje.”
Tomar Altura invita a detenerse. Las fotografías y pinturas de Marco Bizzarri nacen de sus recorridos por el norte de Chile —el Archipiélago de Humboldt, la región de Los Choros— y de un archivo construido a lo largo de los años, donde la luz revela lo que el polvo de la minería deja en suspensión en el aire.
De los trayectos que se repiten a las escaleras que aparecen en cada imagen, aisladas y sin una función clara, Bizzarri trabaja lo que la curadora Esmeralda Gómez Galera describe como una arquitectura efímera: estructuras que recuerdan lo que Robert Smithson llamó “ruinas al revés”, sin pertenecer del todo ni al pasado ni al futuro.
Tomar Altura es a la vez un archivo y una elevación.
