BARÓ was founded by María Baró in 1999 and currently it is formed by its founder and Enno R. The gallery program has become a point of reference for international art in the Brazilian art scenes and, at the same time, has crossed borders, projecting Latin American art to other latitudes. Also, it has participated in numerous art fairs such as Miami Basel, Armony- NY, ArtBO, ArtBA, Sp-Arte, ArtRio,

MACO-México, Arco- Madrid, ArtDubai, Frienze NY, Frieze Masters, among others. After twenty years in Latin America, BARÓ propused to expand its activities to the European continent, starting with the creation of the BARÓ House program ( Madrid, Spain ) as an experimental space for the encounter between creators, thinkers and collectors. In 2021, BARÓ Gallery gives birth to BARÓ Lisbon and BARÓ Mallorca. The first operates as a space for dissemination, projection and consulting, through programs such as BARÓ INsiTU, a platform for the development and production of contemporary art projects adapted to a specific architectual or landscape enviroment; a facilitating agency between artists, collectors, companies and institutions that promotes the integration of Site Specific works in public or private collections. The second, BARÓ Mallorca, initiating a new stage for BARÓ, inaugurated a new venue offering for the rapprochement between Europe and the Américas, as well as a part of the rich artistic panorama offered by the Mediterranean. BARÓ gallery, as a center for the arts, has been striving to allow the expression and diffusion of contemporary art languages, and has also become a facilititing entity between artists, institutions and collectors.

[Save the date] We are pleased to announce Inside the Waterfall, 12 Bones Birthed a Flower, a solo exhibition by Yussef Agbo-Ola, opening on June 11 at Baró Paris. Internationally recognised for his interdisciplinary practice at the intersection of art, architecture, ecology, and spirituality, Agbo-Ola has presented work at major biennials and institutions worldwide, including the Venice Architecture Biennale, Palais de Tokyo, and Serpentine.

Developed in dialogue with the historic Passage Véro-Dodat, the exhibition brings together a new body of work spanning sculpture, textiles, installation, and architecture. Drawing from Yoruba and Cherokee cosmologies, Agbo-Ola explores themes of transformation, continuity, and interdependence through immersive spatial environments where material, ritual, and sensory experience converge. Recurring motifs of water, bones, and flowers weave together ancestral, ecological, and spiritual narratives, proposing alternative ways of relating to memory, place, and the living world.

We are pleased to announce Transfiguration by Joana Vasconcelos, a major exhibition at Museo Picasso Málaga. Bringing together works from the late 1990s to the present, the exhibition highlights the artist’s unique ability to transform everyday materials such as textiles, ceramics and azulejos into powerful contemporary sculptures and immersive installations.

Focusing on themes of identity, tradition and cultural memory, Vasconcelos reimagines Portuguese heritage through a contemporary lens, creating works that are both visually striking and conceptually layered. Transfiguration offers a compelling insight into her evolving practice and her position as one of the leading voices in contemporary art today.

Against Time by Erwin Olaf is now on view at Baró Mallorca’s Next Door space as part of the inaugural edition of Mallorca PhotoFest 2026. The exhibition is accompanied by a critical essay by Esmeralda Gómez Galera. Visit us!

The exhibition brings together a selection of small-format photographs produced between 2006 and 2021, Against Time focuses on one of the most contemplative dimensions of Olaf’s practice through his still lifes of flowers. Drawing on reflections on photography and temporality, the works explore ideas of time, finitude, and disappearance through precise compositions in which flowers emerge from quiet, carefully constructed settings.
