As part of the new Futuro Sessions series, American singer-songwriter Ian Fisher will be performing at the Futuro-House opposite the Pinakothek der Moderne.
Ever since he left his home state of Missouri for Europe at the age of 21, his music has straddled these two worlds. His songs blend the vastness of the American Midwest with the impressions of a life spent travelling – personal, poetic and full of subtle observations.
With nearly 2,000 original songs, 20 released albums and countless concerts across Europe, North America and Africa, Ian Fisher has established himself as an exceptional live performer. His concerts are intense, intimate and honest.

Musically, he is reminiscent of Jeff Tweedy’s acoustic directness, Townes Van Zandt’s melancholic storytelling and Billy Bragg’s social consciousness. Rolling Stone magazine describes his music as “a globetrotter’s perspective on American folk-rock”.
Outside the Futuro House, Ian Fisher will present a selection from his extensive repertoire as well as new songs that focus on our present day – a concert evening full of stories, delicate melodies and timeless songwriting.

Im Rahmen der neuen Reihe Futuro Sessions gastiert der amerikanische Singer-Songwriter Ian Fisher im Futuro-Haus vor der Pinakothek der Moderne.
Seit er mit 21 Jahren seine Heimat Missouri gegen Europa eintauschte, bewegt sich seine Musik zwischen diesen beiden Welten. Seine Songs verbinden die Weite des amerikanischen Mittleren Westens mit den Eindrücken eines Lebens auf Reisen – persönlich, poetisch und voller feiner Beobachtungen.
Mit nahezu 2.000 eigenen Songs, 20 veröffentlichten Alben und unzähligen Konzerten in Europa, Nordamerika und Afrika hat sich Ian Fisher als außergewöhnlicher Live-Musiker etabliert. Seine Konzerte sind intensiv, intim und ehrlich.
Musikalisch erinnert er an die akustische Direktheit von Jeff Tweedy, die melancholische Erzählkunst von Townes Van Zandt und die gesellschaftliche Präsenz eines Billy Bragg. Das Rolling Stone Magazine beschreibt seine Musik als „die Perspektive eines Weltreisenden auf den amerikanischen Folk-Rock“.
