MAKU DAKAR 🇸🇳

Macoumba Ndiaye (Maku Dakar) is a Senegalese painter based in Finland who draws his inspiration from his rich African heritage and his extensive training under renowned artists in Dakar.
His works combine dynamic brushwork, layered colors, and textured depictions of vibrant urban life, integrating symbolic African motifs and rhythms. His works convey a deep sense of collective aspiration, celebrating the interwoven stories of multicultural communities.
Dakar’s works are a powerful affirmation of life’s energy, that demand to look beyond the surface and feel the rhythm and resilience captured in every dynamic brushstroke. He is an ambassador of the Afro-Nordic art form, blending African and Nordic culture, and diversity through his visual artistry.
Maku’s art tells a story of reaching for opportunities as a collective effort to create pathways for everyone, regardless of background and ethnicity can actively pursue and benefit from society through the lines that connect us. This shared commitment enhances the cultural and socio-economic fabric, fostering a community where diverse talents are recognized and nurtured. Through his art, Maku explores these dialogues and conversations that blur the lines of culture, diversity, multiculturalism, and unity - using Africa as his origin.

Wie können wir als Einzelne dazu beitragen, sowohl unsere unmittelbare Umgebung als auch Lebensräume darüber hinaus zu schützen?

Die Folgen des Klimawandels sind ungleich verteilt und treffen oft die am wenigsten entwickelten Regionen der Erde am härtesten. Gemeinschaften, die am wenigsten zu den Treibhausgasemissionen beigetragen haben, sind häufig am stärksten gefährdet, da ihnen weniger Ressourcen zur Anpassung zur Verfügung stehen. Diese Ungleichheiten machen die Asymmetrien der Globalisierung sichtbar. Welche Verantwortung müssen wir von öffentlichen Institutionen, Regierungen und Unternehmen einfordern?

Wir möchten darüber diskutieren, wie unser heutiges Handeln andere Orte und Gemeinschaften von morgen beeinflusst, welche Auswirkungen der Klimawandel auf aktuelle Migrationsbewegungen hat und welche kleinen, aber wirkungsvollen Veränderungen wir in unserem Alltag vornehmen können: wie individuelle Schritte zu grösseren kollektiven Anstrengungen beitragen.

Wir laden dich herzlich ein, mit uns ins Gespräch zu kommen, deine Erfahrungen zu teilen und gemeinsam darüber nachzudenken, auf welche vielfältigen Arten wir miteinander kooperieren.

CARLA SPINOZA 🇧🇴

Carla Spinoza (Bolivia) is a visual artist and researcher with a background in Sociology, Documentary Photography, and an MA in Visual Cultural Studies. She describes herself as “a territory in the making”, inhabiting an interdisciplinary space of experimentation between the arts and the social sciences. Her practice is grounded in what she calls artography - an intersection of artistic creation, writing, and research that gives rise to hybrid forms of embodied and affective knowledge. She works with bodies, emotions, and memory, exploring processes of subject formation and decoloniality through a situated perspective. Combining image, text, and archival materials, her work has been presented in independent, academic, and cultural spaces.

Kooperation ist ein grundlegender Bestandteil des menschlichen Zusammenlebens. Sie ermöglicht Austausch, gegenseitige Unterstützung und gemeinsames Handeln.
Heute steht Kooperation vor neuen Herausforderungen: Die Menschheit ist mit globalen Fragen wie dem Klimawandel, Migration sowie zunehmenden sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Ungleichheiten konfrontiert. Diese Herausforderungen machen nicht an nationalen Grenzen halt und erfordern neue Formen der Zusammenarbeit. Warum fällt es Institutionen und Gesellschaften dennoch so oft schwer, gemeinsame Antworten auf diese systemischen Herausforderungen zu entwickeln? Obwohl wir Menschen über eine ausgeprägte Fähigkeit zur Kooperation verfügen, stellt ihre Anwendung auf globaler Ebene uns vor Herausforderungen, wie wir sie bisher nicht erlebt haben.

Wie wird Kooperation also in unterschiedlichen Gesellschaften und Kulturen praktiziert? Und was können wir von verschiedenen Formen des Zusammenarbeitens lernen?

Last Thursday, 13.08, marked the final day of Kronkorken × Inter-Kulturelle Kommunikation at Zurich Hauptbahnhof.

We closed the programme with a conversation between artists Ursula Wolf and Rame Dardania , following a talk the day before with dance performer Fazil On Yu

A huge thank you to everyone who visited, participated, shared ideas, worked on the Wanderteppich, and helped us make this project grow.

Our last activities at Zurich Hauptbahnhof

Here are the final activities planned for this week as part of Kronkorken × Inter-Kulturelle Kommunikation at Zurich Hauptbahnhof.

Wednesday
We’ll start the afternoon (14:00h.) by laying bottle caps with Ursula Wolf continuing to build the Wanderteppich together. 🧩✨

Afterwards, join us for a panel discussion with visual artist Ursula Wolf and dance performer Fazil On Yu, exploring the connections between art and multiculturalism.

Thursday — our final day!
To say goodbye, we’ll come together one last time with Ursula Wolf to work on the Wanderteppich. Everyone is welcome to join, contribute, and help us shape its next chapter.

At 17:00, artist Rame Dardania will join Ursula for an art discussion, offering another perspective on art, culture and the experiences that connect us.

We’re open every day from 9:00 to 19:00.

Caps of Colours, a dance installation performance by .

Using collected bottle caps, movement, and shared artistic creation, this performance invites us to reflect on how individual actions and encounters can come together to create new forms of connection.

Kronkorken x Interkulturelle Kommunikation transforms discarded materials into a platform for encounter, dialogue, and collective reflection. Through this process, waste is recontextualized as a cultural and social resource.

The exhibition programme unfolds through a series of simple yet meaningful actions, creating space for performances, spontaneous encounters, conversations, and reflections on our collective power to shape social change.
