Transportation shows us how and why people move themselves, their possessions and their ideas over the landscape, and we explore these stories and how it has shaped the Yukon as we know it today. At the Yukon Transportation Museum you will see, read, and hear about the rich history of Yukon transportation through lively stories and the interesting, detailed and surprising size of displays.

If you visited the museum this summer, you probably noticed our interpreter Claire's beautiful drawings on the door that leads from the gift shop to the exhibit yard. This canoe fisherman was one of our favorites 🎣

Sadly, Claire is taking her artistic eye back to Calgary later this week for her last year of school -- thanks to Young Canada Works for its support of her position and Canadian heritage organizations.

Thanks to the team at Parks Canada (especially Kyle, Oliver and Braeden) for hosting the YTM crew for a fascinating tour of the S.S. Klondike worksite this morning. The scope of this restoration project is incredible! We learned a ton about boatbuilding, ship saws, boosting boilers and complex problem solving.

Come see one of the Klondike's lifeboats on display in our main exhibit hall -- we're open Wednesday to Sunday, 10 to 6, through the end of August.

When's the last time you saw a DC-3 dancing to a pipe band? Anything can happen at YTM!

Thanks to the Cochrane Pipe Band from Cochrane, AB, for the tunes, and special thanks to Ray Marnoch for the wonderful video.

It's finally sunny here, and changes are afoot at YTM! Come for a visit and check out our lovely garden boxes, planted by our Collections Manager Nicole (and cared for by our interpretive team). Or if you're more of an indoor cat, come play with the 3D artifact scans in our Discovery Library.

Open Wednesday to Sunday, 10 to 6 😎

How about another Before and After? 📸

This time, we’re heading back to 1990 again, when gang of YTM founders re-posed the historic 1927 shot of Clyde Wann and co. taken during the delivery of the Queen of the Yukon at the San Diego factory.

Despite the unfortunate fate of both original aircraft in the late 1920s, the story of the Queen of the Yukon lives on today through a life-sized replica — originally displayed at Expo '86 in Vancouver — that now soars above our Main Exhibit Hall.

1927 photo — left to right:
J.E. Smith (Ryan Aircraft mechanic)
Bill Monday (Ryan Aircraft test/demo pilot)
Andy Cruickshank (Yukon Airways pilot)
Clyde Wann (Yukon Airways owner)

And in the “new” 1990 photo:
Bob Cameron, Richard Roberts, Carl Maguire, and Ted Turner. Ted was the main builder of the beautiful replica itself!
