There and back again… what a journey! 🐉

Thank you to everyone who came out to The Hobbit at the Yukon Arts Centre. As YAC's first-ever in-house production, this show meant so much to us. Filling the Mainstage with Yukon audiences, from first-time theatregoers to longtime Tolkien fans, made it unforgettable.

Meet the Arrangers & Composers: Toby Moisey

Usually found on stage playing flute with Major Funk, Toby Moisey is trading his flute for the conductor's baton for this special collaboration with the Problematic Orchestra. As Artistic Director of the Longest Night Society, Toby is the driving force behind bringing these two ensembles together, and in addition to conducting the performances, he has arranged two of Major Funk's original songs for orchestra.

A Whitehorse-based conductor, flutist, arranger, and arts educator, Toby's musical journey has taken him from his roots in Smithers, British Columbia, to the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and most recently to the University of Toronto, where he completed his Master of Music in Conducting. Now back in the Yukon, Toby is bringing his international training and diverse musical experiences to the territory, creating opportunities for artistic collaboration and contributing to the growth of Yukon's vibrant music community.

With a background spanning classical music, contemporary ensembles, and funk, Toby is passionate about bringing musicians from different musical traditions together. As both a member of Major Funk and the Artistic Director of the Problematic Orchestra, this concert represents a unique opportunity to unite two sides of his musical life, combining the infectious energy and grooves of funk with the expressive possibilities of a full orchestra.

We're excited to announce that Yukon favourite Ryan McNally will be opening for Jason and Nadia Burnstick at the Yukon Arts Centre!

Known for his soulful blend of blues, roots and old-time music, Ryan is the perfect way to kick off what promises to be a fantastic evening of live music.
