COLCHESTER HERITAGE AWARDS- CONGRATULATIONS~~ WELL DONE!!!!
THANK YOU to the COLCHESTER HISTORICAL SOCIETY FOR ESTABLISHING THE AWARDS PROGRAM AND FOR HOSTING AWARDS NIGHT!!
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO PRESERVE AND PROMOTE OUR HERITAGE!!!!Heritage excellence was celebrated with a strong turnout at the Colchester Historical Society's 2026 Heritage Awards last night. Emceed by Ken Henderson, chair of the CHS Heritage Committee, the ceremony saw recognition given to five recipients:
~Nova Scotia Women’s History Society – In recognition of monuments celebrating African Nova Scotian women educators in Truro.
~Ian MacCara – In recognition of genealogical research in northern Nova Scotia
~Treud Ghàidhlig Trùru (Gaelic Flock of Truro) – In recognition of the promotion of Gaelic language, heritage, and culture
~Maralyn Driver – In recognition of contributions toward the preservation of heritage on the north shore (nominated by the North Shore Archives Society)
~Debert and Area Community Association – In recognition of the continued operation of a landmark Masonic Hall as a community venue (nominated by the Municipality of the County of Colchester)
