TODAY! We celebrate Jamie Reaney at 100!

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of James Crerar Reaney a writer ahead of his time, whose remarkable creative legacy reaches far beyond it.

We’re celebrating at the Stratford Perth Museum from 1–3 p.m. Jamie’s family will be here, along with friends and special guests, for an informal afternoon of reminiscences, readings and memories, with an open mic for anyone who would like to contribute. Plus we have a pop-up exhibit featuring a table from Jamie's farmhouse- and possible writing desk ✍️.

And because you only turn 100 once: coffee, tea and 100 cupcakes!

This is a free event, with admission by donation. Come on down, have a cupcake, hear some stories and help us celebrate Jamie.

Today, 1–3 p.m. | Stratford Perth Museum
All are welcome.

A day of friendship and celebration with moments of laughter and profound memory took place at the Tipi of Huron-Perth’s Open House on Saturday at the Stratford Perth Museum’s Heritage Trails. This sacred home enlivened our green space with renewed purpose, vitality, and optimism for our community. We are honoured and truly grateful to be a part of this living history where traditional knowledge, cultural heritage, and meaningful relationships can be fostered and shared.

The Tipi of Huron-Perth grew from a vision of Christin Dennis, who wanted to create a place in the local area where he could share his knowledge and teachings, including the Seven Sacred Teachings and the Medicine Wheel, as well as his artistic skills. His vision was to create a welcoming space both for Indigenous people reconnecting with their roots and for non-Indigenous people who want to learn more about Indigenous culture and the importance of Truth and Reconciliation.

With funding made available through the National Sixties Scoop Healing Foundation of Canada, and administered on behalf of Kaswentha Two Row Now by the Listowel-Wingham and Area Family Health Team, Dennis led the development, planning, installation and programming of the Tipi of Huron-Perth.

The relocation has been supported by United Way Perth-Huron, with funding to assist with moving the Tipi and the costs of programs and events at its new location. The Huron-Perth Children’s Aid Society has also supported the project through the donation of chairs for the Tipi. Additional community partners and supporters include the Stratford Perth Community Foundation, Falstaff Family Centre, and Destination Stratford as the 2026 media sponsor and relocation funder.
Special thank you to Steve and Elizabeth Cooper for their generous support and services.

On the day he would have turned 100, family and friends share his autobiographical writings, memories, & more - including amusing takes on Jamie as others saw him. Everyone is welcome at this party. There will be cake. Or cupcakes. Or both. Giveaways.

The afternoon offers an opportunity to gather with the Reaney family in celebration of James, his life and his remarkable literary legacy. We plan to pass the mic, so if you have something to offer regarding your experiences with Jamie Reaney and his work we would love for you to share.

A special pop-up exhibit celebrating James Crerar Reaney at 100 will accompany the event.

Special guests to be announced soon. 👀✨
Coffee and tea will be served.

All are welcome | Admission by donation

And who better to model them with our Managing Director and Curveball co-creator Kelly McIntosh than the wonderful Reagan MacMillan, our Interim Collections Coordinator for the past six months. And speaking of CURVEBALL… it’s the final week!

What an extraordinary summer this has been. CURVEBALL has been playing to packed houses at the Blyth Festival theatre, creating so much community joy while celebrating the remarkable women of the Kroehler fastpitch team and the history of women in sport.

Only TWO shows left:
⚾ Thursday, August 20
⚾ Saturday, August 22

There may still be a seat or two available! Contact the Blyth Festival Theatre or visit blythfestival.com.

One last CURVEBALL week. One very fine hat. And one big thank-you to Reagan. ❤️⚾️

The Tipi of Huron Perth has been raised at the Stratford Perth Museum.

Today, Christin Dennis, Tipi expert and raiser Kyle French, and a generous group of volunteers raised the Tipi on Museum grounds. It was an honour to witness this meaningful moment in history.

The raising was held quietly for the safety of everyone involved, and we are now pleased to welcome the community.

On Saturday, August 29, from 10 AM–4 PM, the Tipi of Huron Perth will host an Open House at the Stratford Perth Museum.

We are deeply grateful to all those working behind the scenes to make this possible.

Christin, you are a magnificent leader.

With respect and gratitude, we welcome Kaswentha–Two Row Now and the Tipi of Huron Perth to the Stratford Perth Museum.
