PAVED Arts

PAVED Arts An artist-run centre that supports artists and independent producers to make and exhibit their work. What is PAVED Arts? What does a PAVED Arts membership cost?

PAVED Arts is a non-profit, community-based organization that exists to advance knowledge and practices in what we call the ‘PAVED Arts’ arts: photography, audio, video, electronic and digital. We help artists and independent producers make and exhibit their work. What happens at PAVED Arts?

• Installations & performances
• Free art & media workshops

for members
• Artist residencies
• Production grants
• Offsite programming & community partnerships

How does it work? Exhibitions are always free and open to the public. Our production facilities, workshops and equipment, are fully accessible to our Members, who use the facility for their own independent, non-commercial projects. We offer our members subsidized rental of equipment far below market rates, training, mentorship, and above all an environment for free expression, creative thought and personal growth. A Producing Membership is $50 per year ($25 Student/Underemployed). In addition to receiving discounts on workshop registration, members earn free rental credits through volunteer work. An Associate Membership is available for $25.An Institutional Producing Membership is $100 per year. Institutions may designate two of its staff to use PAVED Arts equipment and facilities. Click here to learn how to get a membership. Can I get support for my production projects? Members are also eligible to apply for our Production Support Programs to receive subsidized training, free equipment access and artist fees for specific projects. What happens in the Gallery? View cutting-edge work in the ‘PAVED’ arts (photography, audio, video, electronic, and digital arts) through our free-for-everyone gallery exhibitions, screenings, and artist projects – including the billboard (shared with AKA) on the building’s facade. Through artist residencies, calls for submissions, offsite events, partnerships, and PAVEDMEANT – a biannual anthology of critical writing, PAVED Arts contributes to an active and vibrant community of media arts in Saskatoon and beyond. PAVED Arts is pleased to announce our 2026 artist in residence: Barbara Reimer!

May 29 to July 27, Barb will be working with a number of alternative processes and materials for lens based media, and hosting workshops for our community. Reimer has a history with eco-processes that predates almost all of the plethora of internet resources available on the topic today. Some are what one would call “sustainable” and others include the plastics and silver-based materials we have been accustomed to with the “historical” image. While sustainability is one goal, Barb also looks to accessibility and responsibility to/for the work and utilizes processes that use up the collected, donated, or expired supplies and “waste” of the studio.

Our annual production residency provides for a longer term of engagement with the centre, organized around workshops staged by the artist in residence, as an interactive means to develop contacts and foster relationships in the direct community.

☀️ Stay tuned for announcements about related workshops and events this summer.
