It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our longtime Board member and dear friend, Mrs. Maureen Thompson.
For more than 20 years, Maureen served our organization in many roles, including representing the Regional District and serving on the Board Executive. Throughout those years, she brought optimism, warmth, energy, and a genuine willingness to help wherever she was needed. Maureen was a vibrant and dedicated member of our Museum family, someone we knew we could always count on.
Her service spanned an important period in our organizationโs history. Maureen was part of the Museum when we took the significant step of rebranding from the Fraser-Fort George Regional Museum to The Exploration Place in 2001, and she remained a steadfast supporter as the organization continued to grow and evolve.
In 2016, Maureen was inducted as a Life Member of The Exploration Place, a recognition that was long overdue for someone who had already given so much of her time, energy, and heart to the organization. It was a fitting acknowledgement of her extraordinary dedication and the lasting impact she made on The Exploration Place and our community.
We are deeply grateful for the many years Maureen gave to The Exploration Place and for the lasting contribution she made to our organization and community. Her optimism, commitment, and generous spirit will be greatly missed.
On behalf of the Board and staff of The Exploration Place, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Maureenโs family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
Thank you, Maureen, for more than two decades of friendship, leadership, and service. You will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
