What an incredible summer we've had! We've met people from Peru, Denmark, Germany, Iowa, Vietnam and everywhere in between! Thanks to everyone who brightened our day by telling us how much they enjoyed going through the site.

It never ceases to amaze me how so many people just stumble upon us with no prior knowledge, and no Scottish connections--then has their minds blown! Almost daily we hear: 'I've travelled the world and been to hundreds of museums, but this is definitely in the top 10...WOW!'🏆

But, that's enough bragging from me--well, for today anyway.😉

We just received a lovely donation from Pat & Bob Matheson, on behalf of the local Matheson Clan chapter (now defunct). William Matheson, his wife Elizabeth (MacKenzie) and Charles Matheson were on board the Ship Hector when it arrived on our shores in 1773. They first settled in Truro before moving back to the area to settle again in Scotsburn--likely to be closer to a Gaelic speaking community.

We are so grateful for your generosity and consideration, and we will put it to good use! Thank you so much!💙❤️🖤

A recent scientific study suggests one in four MacDonalds can trace their origins back to the Norse-Celtic warrior king Somerled. Genghis Khan is the only man who has more living descendants.

Clan Chief Angus Og found favour with the legendary Scottish King Robert Bruce---when he first sheltered him at the lowest point of his career and then stood with 5,000 MacDonalds at Bannockburn in 1314. The clan’s loyalty was rewarded with King Robert Bruce proclaiming that Clan Donald would always occupy the honoured position on the right wing of the Scottish army.

Well, that was fun! Had a great morning chatting with passengers from the Pearl Mist of Pearl Seas Cruises. They really enjoyed their visit and had nothing but lovely things to say about our town. I sure hope the staff at Mrs. MacGregor's are OK, they must have been bombarded because everyone coming in to our site was carrying a bag of shortbread!😁 We're looking forward to doing it again on the 16th!

Heads up Mrs. MacGregor’s Shortbreads, better get stocked up!🌟
