Carmichael-Stewart House Museum We are closed for the season and will reopen next summer. Admission is always free at the Carmichael Stewart House and we would love for you to visit.

Situated on the tree-lined Temperance Street in the heart of New Glasgow, sits one of Pictou County's most historic residences. The late Victorian home with original hardwood floors and beautiful stained glass windows houses an extensive photo collection, Trenton Glassware, an amazing clothing collection and many unique Pictou County treasures. Throughout each summer season the museum houses different exhibits, and holds a variety of events that are all open to the public.

Well, that's a wrap on 2026 Let Them Eat Cake!

Thank you to each and every one of you who made tonight possible. Thank you to every person who purchased tickets. Thank you to every person who attended. Every Business, Artist, Baker, and individuals who donated deserve a huge standing ovation. Every person who bid on our silent auction items, really from the bottom of our hearts thank you. Every volunteer deserves a gold star, thank you. Summer Street as a venue, thank you. Each and every one of you made tonight happen. THANK YOU!

It is quite safe to say that tonight was a great success!

Tomorrow is the BIG Event. Our 2026 Let Them Eat Cake Event starts at 6pm - Sept 19th at Summer Street. We are feeling very blessed that this years event is already SOLD OUT. Thank you to all whom have purchased tickets. We are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. Bring Your Appetites, your sweet tooth, and your holiday shopping list!

Thank you to all of our Artists and Businesses for so many lovely donations. Our Cakes have started to arrive, and they are looking and smelling amazing. Thank you to all of the Bakers and volunteers for making this event possible. Summer Street deserves an advance thank you as well for the use of their venue.

Below is a sneak peak of the lots that are being auctioned at this year's event.

Please note, there will also be giveaways during the event that have been provided by some additional businesses!

We are aware of some people trying to sell tickets to the event on Facebook. We kept a record of all ticket sales and the names of purchasers to ensure a smooth entry into the event. If you can no longer attend, please email the museum with your ticket number, name, and date of purchase so that we can update our records.

We are hosting our fourth annual Let Them Eat Cake fundraiser, next Saturday, Sept 19th, at Summer Street Industries. Bakers from all over the county are making a bevy of cakes and other sweets for our guests. So if you like cake, or know someone who does, join us on the 19th.

Well that's us for the season! Thank you to everyone who came by to visit us. We hope that you had a great time and will join us again next summer. Big thank you to our summer students: Rachel Smaldon, Liam Munro, and Meaghan Gormley. They were absolutely amazing and we are going to miss them! We wish them all the best in the coming year in their studies.
