It happened in Rideau ... and across Ontario in 1914, the Junior High School Entrance Exam. The geography was relatively easy; other subjects were, hmmm challenging. From SS #9-NG- Reeve Craig -03.pdf

It happened in Rideau ... the file SS #7-MAR-Ross-02.pdf includes a petition sent in 1857 to the Marlborough Council concerning what was known as the Ross school built in 1849. The run-on sentence was necessary to include all parts of the petition although today we would use sub-clauses. Handwriting is pretty darn good and the text well structured with several references to the worshipful council. I don't know if it was respect or sarcasm.
My attempt at transcribing the text;

"Feb 12th, 1857
To the worshipful Reeve and Township Council
of the Municipality of Marlborough
In Council Assembled
May it please your Worships
The petition of the inhabitants of School Section No.
7 in the Township of Marlborough humbly -he-o-th
that whereas lot number twenty in the first and second
concessions of Marlborough have until lately attached and
are formed as integral part of the said sections
but whereas by some late act of your worshipful Council
the said lots have been detached and -----ced within
the limits of the adjacent Section No.3 to the great inconvenience
of your petitioners rendering our School Section very
incompetent to maintain a good school within the
Section Your petitioners most humbly beg that your
worshipful body will take the matter into Consideration
and allow your petitioners to retain within their Section
the above mentioned lots which will greatly facilitate the
means of supporting a good school within the Said
Section and otherwise promote the convenience of
many of the inhabitants of the Said Section
and your petitioners as in duly bound will ever pray
