Ingenium operates three national museums in Ottawa that cover soil to space–and everything in between The Museum is open year-round but hours vary seasonally. May 1 to September 1 Daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. September 2 to April 30 Daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays

The Museum is open daily on statutory holidays and during March Break except December 25.

Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk is currently aboard the International Space Station as part of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-13 mission. Joshua brought a century-old family pocket watch and Canadian flags with him.

🚀 On This Day in 1984, Canada went to space! 🍁

On October 5, 1984, Marc Garneau made history as the first Canadian to fly in space, launching aboard Space Shuttle Challenger on mission STS-41G.

During the mission, Garneau conducted 10 Canadian experiments studying space technology, space science and how humans adapt to spaceflight.

Fun fact: All the equipment for those experiments fit into just one locker, about half the size of a filing cabinet drawer!

More than 40 years later, Garneau’s historic mission remains an important milestone in Canada’s journey in space. 🚀

🪐 Celebrate the start of World Space Week by looking up! ✨

Tonight, Saturn reaches opposition, meaning Earth will pass between Saturn and the Sun. This brings the ringed planet to its closest point to Earth for the year, making it bright and easy to spot in the night sky. 🔭

In Ottawa, Saturn rises just before sunset, and will reach its highest point in the sky to the South at 12:57 a.m.

Take out a telescope for a closer look at Saturn and its famous rings!

For Women’s History Month, we’re honouring Maryse Carmichael, a Canadian aviation pioneer who made history in the skies. 🛩️

In 2000, Maryse Carmichael became the first woman to fly with the Snowbirds Aerobatic Team, and the first woman to fly with any jet aerobatic display team in the world. A few years later, she made history again as the first woman to command the Snowbirds.

A 22-year Royal Canadian Air Force veteran with more than 3,500 hours of flying time, Maryse continues to inspire the next generation of aviators through her leadership and advocacy for youth in aviation. 💙

Her achievements helped inspire and open opportunities for more women in aviation. 💙
