Heads up, sky watchers 👀✨

Tonight, Venus and Jupiter will have a dazzling encounter in the night sky that will be visible to the naked eye.

Look low in the western sky shortly after sunset to spot the two planets shining side-by-side like a brilliant double star. You’ll only have about an hour before they set, so don’t miss it! 🌌

It’s Museums Week! Today’s theme is , highlighting the stories museums share about peace, reconciliation, and service.

The de Havilland Canada Buffalo in our collection represents an important chapter in Canadian peacekeeping history. In the 1970s and early 1980s, RCAF Buffalos supported United Nations missions in places like Egypt and Rhodesia, transporting personnel and supplies in challenging conditions.

One Buffalo, aircraft 461, was shot down near Syria during a UN mission on August 9, 1974, killing the nine Canadian Armed Forces members on board. Their loss is commemorated each year on National Peacekeepers’ Day in Canada.

Objects like this aircraft help preserve stories of service, sacrifice, and the ongoing pursuit of peace.
