Meet the Arts Corridor Artist ✨ Pascale Arpin

Pascale Arpin, b. 1987, is an Ottawa-based artist whose expertise across numerous domains and disciplines has made her a highly skilled and sought-after creative. Her traditional sign painting and lettering work, which can be spotted throughout her hometown of Ottawa (and beyond), has garnered international recognition as well as been featured in several publications and exhibitions. In 2020, Arpin began to teach herself oil painting with the goal of creating works that combine photorealism with traditional hand-painted lettering techniques. She has since begun shifting her focus towards her personal painting practice while continuing to provide traditional signwriting services in Ottawa and beyond.

Pascale Arpin, née en 1987, est une artiste établie à Ottawa dont le parcours dans différents domaines et disciplines témoigne d’une grande polyvalence. On peut voir ses enseignes et ses lettrages peints à la main un peu partout dans sa ville natale d’Ottawa, et ailleurs. Son travail est reconnu internationalement et a fait partie de plusieurs publications et expositions. Arpin a commencé à apprendre la peinture à l’huile par elle-même en 2020, voulant créer des œuvres combinant le photoréalisme et les techniques traditionnelles de lettrage peint à la main. Depuis, elle se consacre de plus en plus à la peinture, tout en continuant d’offrir ses services de lettrage et d’enseignes dans la région, et au-delà.

✨ Save the Date: Ottawa 200 Day at the OAG 🎉
🗓️ September 26 | Free

Celebrate Ottawa 200 with a full day of art, animation and community at the Ottawa Art Gallery! The day will feature the Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) partner exhibition Frame by Frame, Jay Odjick’s Odāwā Yesterday: Odāwā Chìnàgo building projection in collaboration with the National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts , drop-in animation workshops in partnership with eQ Homes, and the OAG Mini-Market.

The celebration will also mark the completion of the Arts Corridor, activating downtown Ottawa through a new series of public art installations.

SoundScape kicks off tonight! 🎉 Ottawa's newest immersive music and arts festival presented by Immersive International. Running from August 27 to September 26, SoundScape will transform Ottawa's Plaza Bridge through live music, installation art, and immersive design. ✨

As part of SoundScape, the OAG is proud to present Infinite Sunshine, an immersive installation by Ryan Stec and in collaboration with French composer Lucas Verreman. Through layered video of light shimmering on water, Infinite Sunshine dissolves its subject into shifting planes of abstract pattern. In doing so, the installation revisits the aesthetic goals of nineteenth-century movements like Impressionism, concerned with the painterly dissolution of form, achieved here using contemporary generative technology. The result is an experience of pure sensation.

Infinite Sunshine invites sustained engagement with beauty and contemplation of nature’s eternal cycles.

On display 4 PM to 7 PM from August 29 to September 10 and September 14 to September 24 , 2026, under the Plaza Bridge.

This installation is presented in partnership with the Embassy of France in Canada Ambassade de France au Canada and Immersive International.

We are excited to launch our newest project, "Ottawa 200+ Portraits, Places, and People", developed in partnership with Downtown Rideau and Ottawa Art Gallery - Galerie d'art d'Ottawa Exhibited at the satellite location of the former Hudson’s Bay Company windows on Rideau Street, this immersive outdoor gallery combines historic photographs of Ottawa storefronts and streetscapes with the works of contemporary artists, Pascale Arpin and Emilie Darlington.

This installation is an extension of our new temporary exhibition, "What's in a Frame? 200+ Years of Community Portraits" and a part of the newly launched ACE District. The curatorial vision, “a day out on Rideau”, positions Rideau Street as a place where, then and now, people come to move, shop, and gather.

✨ Arts Corridor Artwork Spotlight ✨

Discover Feminist Sedna by Gayle Uyagaqi Kabloona, on view now on York Street.

Artist Gayle Uyagaqi Kabloona depicts the Inuit legend of Sedna the Sea Goddess in her latest wallhanging, reinterpreting the narrative in a feminized context, allowing the heroine to be self-sufficient, empowered, and free of patriarchal violence.

This installation is a partnership with the Department of Indigenous Ways and Decolonization at the National Gallery of Canada.
