For this week we would like to celebrate the opening of Le Carnaval des Compagnons with a photo from Carnaval 1966.

Inspired by the first official Quebec carnival held in 1953, a small group of local Francophones decided to bring a similar event to their hometown in 1963. Since then, North Bay’s Francophone population has been gathering every February for a week of snowy activities.

Visit our online exhibit, developed with Les Compagnons des francs loisirs , to learn more! Le Carnaval des Compagnons will run from February 1-7th this year, so be sure to check out the many events planned for the community to enjoy.
