A Night We Will Never Forget.
After 29 years, Steven Snake returned.
What unfolded at Bloch Bauers Gallery of Fine Art this past weekend was more than the opening of an exhibition. It was a homecoming, a celebration, and an incredibly moving reminder of the power of art to bring people together.
To everyone who walked through our doors, thank you.
Some of you came from just down the street. Others travelled from communities across Northern Ontario and from much farther away. Some knew Steven and his work from years ago, while others were discovering him for the very first time.
You travelled, you listened, you shared stories, you stood quietly in front of his paintings, and you welcomed Steven back with a warmth that was deeply felt.
Seeing Steven standing in a gallery filled with an entirely new body of work, surrounded by people who had come specifically to see him after so many years away from the public eye, was something difficult to put into words.
To every person who attended, purchased a painting, shared the exhibition, sent a message, helped behind the scenes, or simply took the time to experience Steven's work, you became part of this story.
And to Steven, thank you for trusting us with your paintings, your memories, your stories, and this remarkable chapter of your life.
For those who couldn't join us for opening weekend, the story isn't over yet.
The exhibition remains on view at Bloch Bauers Gallery of Fine Art through October 13th.
