The audience is anxiously waiting in a darkened tent. Eyes fixed on a lone spot lit up on the stage. An aging garishly painted four door jalopy stops in the middle of the spot. All doors open. Then all hell breaks loose. An ensuing chaos commences. Then the ringmaster says: “let the show begin” . It certainly does. An evening of manic energy follows. They will have the time of their life. For some the best fun they have ever had. The entire evening of amazement and wonder controlled by a single ringmaster.
In today’s times the world seems like an exploding clown car. Only without a ringmaster. It’s chaotic, senseless and uncertain. Paintings of rampaging clowns and spontaneous tricks are a metaphor for how the world has become as of lately. Most are just waiting for a ring master. Or can sit back and witness the absurdities with complacency.
"Circus Circus” is a show of paintings by Rod Corraini. Showing at Art 10 Gallery in the Nanaimo North Town Centre for the entire months of September and October. Rod will be present at the gallery every Thursday and Saturday afternoon from 2 to 6 pm.
