JANA STERBAK

For over four decades, Jana Sterbak’s work has probed the friction inherent in opposites drawn from a myriad of provocative materials, worked through innovative sculpture, wearables, photography, and video. Here and across her practice, transformative objects and materials become stand-ins for the human condition in its many contradictions.

Sterbak’s photograph and video works are included in our current exhibition, Tightrope, on view until August 29, 2026.

Depuis plus de quatre décennies, explore la friction inhérente aux opposés suscitées par une multitude des matériaux provocateurs, travaillés à travers des sculptures, pièces à porter, photographies et vidéos novatrices. Ici, comme dans l’ensemble de sa pratique, les objets et les matériaux transformateurs deviennent les substituts de la condition humaine dans toutes ses contradictions.

Les œuvres de Sterbak font partie de notre exposition de groupe, Tightrope, en cours jusqu’au 29 août 2026.

We are delighted to highlight Patricia Ayres’ new commission for the High Line, New York: a monumental installation of three patchworked sculptures that continue the artist’s exploration of bodily restraint and power through bound, body-like forms. Stitched, stained, and wrapped, her work obscures the line between skin and garment, suggesting both strength and vulnerability.

Ayres’ bandaged, anthropomorphic sculptures are also currently on view in our group exhibition Tightrope, presented in collaboration with Matthew Brown Gallery.

Curated by Cecilia Alemani, Ayres’ High Line presentation continues until Spring 2027, installed between 19th and 20th Streets.

Jeremy Shaw sat down with STUDIO Magazine to discuss his work and practice, published in their recent issue, CAPTURE:

“My work has long revolved around notions of altered states. Whether that’s experiential, ideological or empirical, I’m drawn to a seemingly inherent human aspiration towards transcendence, as well as the endless subjective interpretations of the term itself. The images in these works almost always depict subjects that align with this line of thought… One person’s ecstasy is another’s terror, and these experiences can often contain elements of both.”
