"[...] Une exploration algorithmique qui perdure dans l’activation du vide que le Scherenschnitt permet à l’artiste. Cette technique suisse-allemande, qui consiste à retirer du tangible pour faire apparaître l’image souhaitée, devient le théâtre d’ombres portées par la lumière qui traverse les sculptures. Déplaçant volontairement l’immatériel vers le palpable, celle-ci ajoute une nouvelle strate à l’interrogation que semble poser Margot Klingender : comment un objet visuel ou réflexif au sens large se transforme-t-il lorsqu'il migre d'un régime de visibilité à un autre ? [...] "

The exhibition "The Whole World Began With A Yes" by Margot Klingender is on view.

" [...] This algorithmic exploration persists through the activation of empty space afforded to the artist by the Scherenschnittetechnique. This Swiss German artform involves the removal of the tangible to create the desired image; as light passes through the sculptures, a shadow theatre is created. The deliberate play between the immaterial and the tangible adds a new layer to the question that Klingender seems to pose: how does a visual or (in every sense) reflective object change when it migrates from a system of visibility to another system? [...] "

This vibrant event brings together a range of local artist-run centres and arts organizations to introduce students and recent alumni from Concordia’s Faculty of Fine Arts to the Montréal art ecosystem.

L'exposition "Le monde tout entier naquit d'un oui" de Margot Klingender .jpeg est en cours.

"Émanant de découpes papier réalisées initialement en formats intimistes, ces plus vastes œuvres d’acier chimériques arborent un vocabulaire graphique issu d'un patient travail de collecte. Depuis plusieurs décennies, Klingender constitue un important répertoire d'images glanées sur différents supports : livres, archives, forums en ligne ou encore réseaux sociaux. Redessinées puis découpées à la main, ces figures vacillantes à l’allure dentellière sont soustraites à leur contexte d'origine avant d'être réagencées de façon intuitive, selon leurs qualités formelles ou leurs affinités esthétiques. Sans liens apparents, elles esquissent tout de même une pluralité de contours narratifs au service d’une réflexion sur la production de sens, teintée par les principes de dialogisme et d’intertextualité"

The exhibition "The Whole World Began With A Yes" by Margot Klingender is on view.

"Created from paper cut-outs initially made in small formats, her larger, fanciful steel works use a graphic vocabulary born of a persistent act of collecting. Over several decades, Klingender has amassed a significant repository of images gathered from books, archives, online forums and social media. Redrawn and then cut out by hand, the images are taken from their original contexts and intuitively redesigned according to their formal qualities or aesthetic resemblances, to create these wavering lace-like designs. Apparently unconnected, they nevertheless sketch a plurality of narrative outlines, prompting a reflection on the production of meaning influenced by the principles of dialogism and intertextuality".
