Kamloops Art Gallery The Kamloops Art Gallery The Kamloops Art Gallery offers inspiring, provocative, and transformative art experiences of national caliber.

Located in Secwepemcúlecw , it is the largest art gallery in the Interior of British Columbia and boasts a collection of over 3,000 works of art. With more than 12 exhibitions every year, they offer diverse, accessible, and affordable experiences including talks, tours, and studio-based programming for people of all ages and abilities. The Kamloops Art Gallery was incorporated and opened in 1978.

It is the principal Gallery for the visual arts in the southern interior of British Columbia. The Gallery is committed to the belief that art is an essential part of the human experience. It is dedicated to making this belief tangible within the communities it serves.

Ephemeral Forms highlights the amazing work the summer campers made throughout July and August. Now on view on the Open Gallery wall September 5 to October 10.

Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Thursdays from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Introducing Tanya Lukin Linklater!

Through videos, sculptures, and dances in museums, Tanya Lukin Linklater thinks with weather, embodiment, and beingness. Lukin Linklater’s expansive practice responds to cultural belongings, Indigenous dance lineages, and includes scores. Her work is structured by sensation, orality, poetics, and embodied inquiry. Through citation of Indigenous peoples' lived experience and cultural work, Lukin Linklater honours practices and lineages that exceed dominant ideas of who we are.

For her work, Sensation is a circuit of experience, a circuit of the felt traveling in and adjacent to the body, Lukin Linklater invited four dancers to respond to concise texts and instructions through physical investigations for the camera. Guided by Lukin Linklater’s practice of embodied inquiry, dance artists Ivanie Aubin-Malo, Ceinwen Gobert, Hanako Hoshimi-Caines, and Emily Law made videos in geographically dispersed locations within the Great Lakes Watershed. By placing the camera in the dancer’s hands, each practitioner exercises agency, choosing where and how to respond.

See Sensation is a circuit of experience, a circuit of the felt traveling in and adjacent to the body in Dancing through to the other side on view until September 12, 2026. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm and Thursdays, 10 am to 8 pm.

Curator Charo Neville welcomes CFJC Midday crew into the central gallery to talk about Dancing through to the other side 📺

Curator Charo Neville reflects that "it's the first time we've had solely dance in an exhibition...dancers who have a honed craft and years of experience as dancers, but who are also working in interdisciplinary ways." Taking you through each artwork in the exhibition and giving a sense of the overall experience, Neville says, "you come in and you feel like you're immersed in this cocoon and its very calming...and so you kind of go on a journey".

Kamloops Art Gallery Assistant Curator, Craig Willms, appeared on CFJC Midday to talk about The Cube exhibition, The Pit.

Describing Nasim Pirhadi's video in The Pit, Assistant Curator, Craig Willms, offers insight into the artist’s reimagining of the zurkhaneh, a traditionally male gym in her homeland of Iran: "she has taken up this exercise as a woman, and not only taken it up, but practiced it under water, adding a degree of difficulty...it alludes to how some actions may be easy to do or taken for granted, but where there are barriers in the way, it becomes more difficult." He adds, "to defy the male only space, she's projected herself into the octagon...making this space a site of resistance".

📢Join us for a workshop focused on building grassroots community change through craftivism! ✂️

NEW date: Saturday, October 10
1:00 to 3:00 pm
FREE, all ages, Drop-in

Bring your wildest imagination and learn collage techniques to create a collective vision of a thriving community.

Together, we will co-create a large, collaged artwork that will become part of an exhibition on the Open Gallery this fall. You can also create your own individual collage or zine to take home. Materials and supplies will be provided. You are invited to bring collage materials that connect to your Kamloops neighbourhoods (e.g. flyers, photos, maps, etc.)

This workshop is co-hosted by the Kamloops Art Gallery and Propolis Cooperative Housing Society

Today, we’re inviting 2,500 members to join us by contributing just $5 per month ($60/year). Together, we can raise $150,000 to grow our programming and increase access to the arts.
